PAN PIPES Summer 2019 25 DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS Ciminera-Ginn Eckenrode Fredrickson Ginn Bodiford teaches the instrumental conducting courses at the university and maintains a busy national schedule as a clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor. Dr. Bodiford is also the director of the internationally known "Marching Southerners." Under his leadership, the "Marching Southerners" have grown from approximately 144 members to a membership in excess of 450. Dr. Bodiford served as the Executive Director of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps (JSU Spirit) from 2001 until 2007. Under his leadership, the corps consistently ranked among the elite top twelve corps in the nation at the DCI World Championships. He was selected as the 2016-17 director of the United States Army All American Marching Band. is group consists of 125 of the top marching band students in the United States. ey perform halime for the All American Bowl each year that is held in San Antonio, TX. Lisa Ciminera-Ginn Lisa Ciminera-Ginn was initiated a Friend of the Arts by the Gamma Upsilon Chapter at Moorhead State University in April. Mrs. Ciminera-Ginn holds a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts Education from Minnesota State University. As a singer, producer, and artist with Electric Ledge Studios, she has co-produced and created music concepts for Morehead State University rock ensemble concerts for the MSU Commercial Music programs. She has performed in various venues throughout North America and Canada, including concert halls, fundraisers, radio and television programs, libraries, private events, house concerts, museums, universities, high schools, elementary schools, weddings, funerals, and artisan centers. Bryan Eckenrode Bryan Eckenrode was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Buffalo Alumnae Chapter in April. Mr. Eckenrode is an active conductor, cellist, and educator in Western New York and Pennsylvania. He graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and holds a Master of Music degree from SUNY at Buffalo. He is currently principal cello with the Western New York Chamber Orchestra and Southern Tier Symphony. Eckenrode has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, with Ars Nova, and as principal cellist of the British Columbia (Canada) Mozart Festival Orchestra. He is a member of the Lexington String Quartet, and the chamber groups Voci D'Amore and Camerata. Eckenrode records with the International Baroque Soloists, and he can be heard on the CDs of many artists, not only as a cellist, but as a bagpiper and flutist. He has recorded the soundtracks of film scores for a number of silent movies being distributed on commercial DVD by the Turner Broadcasting Network. He has performed twice at Lincoln Center in New York and recorded the soundtrack for the PBS special The Siege of Fort Erie – A Glorious Battle. He was bagpipe soloist with the Buffalo Philharmonic for their successful Memorial Day Pops Concerts. He is principal cellist with The Most Arts Festival held during the month of July at Alfred University. Eckenrode is conductor and music director of the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chautauqua Regional Youth Symphony, the Prelude Strings Orchestra, and the Young Artists Orchestra of Jamestown. He has been guest conductor with the Western New York Chamber Orchestra and e Southern Tier Symphony. Eckenrode is the program coordinator for Artpark's Music in the Woods series. Mr. Eckenrode is an adjunct professor at Canisius College, Jamestown Community College, and director of the string department at Villa Maria College. Eckenrode is on the music faculty at the renowned Nichols School in Buffalo. Dr. William Fredrickson Dr. William Fredrickson was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Beta Alpha Chapter at Florida State University (FSU) in April. Dr. Fredrickson is a Professor of Music Education and Associate Dean of Operations at the FSU College of Music. He teaches both Music Education and Music erapy focusing on principles of behavioral modification. Dr. Fredrickson emphasizes values structuring an environment apt for the most effective learning. He previously held positions in the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University. He earned a Bachelor's from the State University of New York College at Fredonia, where he was a member of the Rho Chi chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He received his Master's degree in Saxophone Performance from Syracuse University. He then earned his Doctorate in Music Education from FSU. Dr. Fredrickson has published research in several journals. As a public school music teacher in upstate New York, he taught instrumental music at all levels. A founding member of the Aeolian Saxophone Quartet, Dr. Fredrickson performed and recorded with that group for twelve years. Dr. Fredrickson's early career interests led to his research focus which includes music teacher preparation, music perception, and the affective response to music. He is published in various professional journals including the Journal of Research in Music Education, International Journal of Music Education, Bulletin for the Council of Research in Music Education, Psychology of Music, and the Journal of Band Research. Fredrickson is past editor of the Journal of Music Teacher Education and the Missouri Journal of Research in Music Education. Glenn Ginn Glenn Ginn was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Gamma Upsilon Chapter at Moorhead State University in April. Mr. Ginn is the Associate Professor of Guitar and Jazz Studies at Morehead State. At Moorhead, he instituted the jazz and studio music performance program and served as director of the guitar and bass program. Glenn is an active performer and clinician with nearly 25 years of professional performing and teaching experience. Prior to his move to Kentucky in 2005, Ginn served for 10 years as professor of guitar and jazz studies at Minnesota State University in Moorhead, Minnesota (1995- 2005). Ginn is a graduate of the world-famous jazz studies program at the University of North Texas where he earned a Master's in Jazz Performance. He has been a featured soloist and his guitar
