Fall 2019 6 PAN PIPES NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS A Grand Opening S unday, August 4th, 2019 — Sigma Alpha Iota's National Executive Board and Philanthropies Board, fraternity staff, and special guest Edie Marshall gathered to celebrate the opening and official "ribbon cutting" of the Member's Only and Museum Rooms housed at Sigma Alpha Iota National Headquarters in Asheville, NC. A small ceremony prior to the ribbon cutting, which was led by National President Leslie Odom Miller and SAI Philanthropies, Inc. Chairman Heidi Frankson, recognized the significance of archiving our fraternity history and ritual, along with celebrating the contributions of Edie Marshall, who provided the financial support to take the rooms from ideas to a realization. ese special archival rooms, located on the upper floor of National Headquarters, hold many fraternity treasures. It is a unique experience to visit each. Both are perfectly styled to transport each visitor to another place and time. e Museum Room is fashioned to resemble the office of Hazel E. Ritchey who was the SAI National President from 1923 to 1931. e walls are beautifully decorated with an artistic fraternity timeline. In this Museum Room, the complete set of PAN PIPES, first published in 1909, is available for perusal. Historical scrapbooks from chapters such as Iota Delta and Sigma Xi, and individual members like Lela Putney and Mildred Odell Sale, provide much enjoyment when viewing the telegrams, convention mementos, and musicale programs.
