Fall 2019 56 PAN PIPES DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS featuring choral/orchestral repertoire alongside programs that engage creatively with the Muncie community. He is also director of music at First Presbyterian Church in Muncie and former conductor of the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus. He has appeared as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator across the country and recently debuted at the Teatro del Bicentenario in San Juan, Argentina, leading choirs from the Universidad Nacional de San Juan. Collegiate choirs under his direction have appeared at conferences of the Indiana Music Education Association, Ohio Music Education Association, and American Choral Directors Association and with professional orchestras in Fort Wayne, Canton (Ohio), and Muncie. Dr. Glann holds memberships in the American Choral Directors Association, the National Collegiate Choral Organization, and the National Association for Music Education. He currently serves as president of the Indiana Choral Directors Association. Dr. Kevin Gerrity Dr. Kevin Gerrity was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Iota Chi Chapter at Ball State University in April. Dr. Gerrity, an Associate Professor of Music Education, joined the faculty of Ball State University in the Fall of 2007. Prior to his appointment at Ball State, he spent thirteen years teaching instrumental and general music in the State of Ohio. Dr. Gerrity holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Otterbein College and Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from The Ohio State University. Dr. Gerrity is a member and/ or affiliated with the National Association for Music Education (NAFME), the Society for Research in Music Education (SRME), the Society for Music Teacher Education (SMTE), Indiana Music Education Association (IMEA), The College Music Society (CMS), and both The American Educational Research Association (AERA) and its Mid-Western regional affiliate (MWERA). In addition to being a frequent presenter at state, regional, and national conferences, Dr. Gerrity has published articles in the Journal of Research in Music Education, the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, UPDATE: Applications of Research in Music Education, Music Educators Journal, General Music Today, scholarlypartnershipsedu, The Indiana Musicator, and multiple editions of Rachel Billmeyer's Strategic Reading in the Content Areas: Practical Applications for Creating a Thinking Environment. Tom Hancock Tom Hancock was initiated as Friend of the Arts by the Lake County Alumnae Chapter in May. Mr. Hancock has been an avid supporter of music since his time as a student at Ball State University. Throughout his collegiate years he composed music for low brass trios and continues to write recorder consort arrangements for the Elizabeth Quinn Recorder Consort at the LCAC. He regularly performs with the recorder consort and has been a true foundation for the ensemble playing the bass recorder. With his busy career as a professional engineer, Tom still makes the time to support music in his life with his wife Judith as members of the Merrillville United Methodist Church, where he and his wife both sing in the church choir. Tom considers one of his greatest joys to be conducting the choir while they perform one of his arrangements. Debra Lew Harder Debra Lew Harder was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter in July. Concert pianist and broadcaster Debra Lew Harder made her orchestral debut at twelve. When she was sixteen, she performed and recorded the Ravel G Major Concerto with the World Youth Symphony. She went on to earn a combined Bachelor of Science/ Medical Degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. While studying medicine, she continued to perform in national chamber music concerts presented by the Si-Yo Young Artists Series. After earning her medical degree, she practiced as an emergency room physician before earning a second doctorate in music, from the Ohio State University, where she studied with, and served as teaching assistant to, the legendary American virtuoso Earl Wild. She is the creator of "Music and Conversation with Debra Lew Harder," which demonstrates the power of classical music within a fascinating social and scientific context. She has performed with orchestras throughout the U.S. and as a soloist at London's Wigmore Hall, the historic Barocksaal in Rostock, Germany, Haverford College's Guest Artists Series, Jefferson Medical University's Dean's Concert Series, and on the Guest Artist Series at Temple University. As a collaborative pianist, she has performed with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and performs regularly with her piano trio, Trio MiReSol. She conducts Philadelphia Orchestra broadcast interviews, hosts live-to-broadcast performances, and produces arts news features for WRTI, 90.1 FM in Philadelphia. Ann Hiloski-Fowler Ann Hiloski-Fowler was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter at West Chester University in May. Hiloski-Fowler is a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) in musicology at Rutgers University. She received an MA in Music History and an MM in Performance from Rutgers and a BM in Horn Performance from the University of North Texas. While at Rutgers, Hiloski- Fowler performed with the Rutgers University Orchestra at Lincoln Center in New York City, and performed on several recordings with the Rutgers Wind Ensemble. As a doctoral student in musicology at Rutgers, Ann was a graduate fellow and a contributing writer of the festival publication for the 2006 Shostakovich Festival at Rutgers. In 2007, she was a participant in the Graduate Student Workshop Program of the Society for Music Theory on the topic of sonata theory with James Hepokoski and Warren Darcy. Prior to her time at WCUPA, she taught at Temple University, Widener University, and Saint Joseph's University (Pa.). Professor Hiloski-Fowler has been a constant support to the Epsilon Epsilon chapter and its endeavors.
