PAN PIPES Winter 2020 31 OPPORTUNITIES Project Inclusion Vocal Fellowship Project Inclusion is a training program in June 2020 for singers aged 18-29 from diverse backgrounds historically underrepresented in the symphonic choral field, including but not limited to African American, Native American, and Latinx artists. With a stipend of approximately $3,400, the program aims to increase diversity in the classical vocal field and guide young musicians toward successful professional careers. Deadline: March 16, 2020 Summer Residency for New Music at DePaul Monday, July 6 - Sunday, July 12, 2020 Acclaimed new music chamber group, Ensemble Dal Niente, joins the DePaul Composition faculty for a week-long residency program featuring guest composer Hilda Parades. During this week, young composers and performers will have opportunities to collaborate on new projects, work side-by-side with Ensemble Dal Niente and participate in master classes. The program will guide you through refining your audition repertoire with voice lessons, coaching, stage technique classes and performances as well as learning about audition protocol, self-management and promotion, repertoire, vocal health and more. Deadline: March 16, 2020 Association of Concert Bands Young Composers Composition Contest in Partnership with the John Philip Sousa Foundation There are over a thousand community bands in the United States and more across the globe looking for new music that fits a more traditional style of concert band literature that audiences will enjoy. This composition contest is intended for composers under 30 years of age writing a 3 - 5 minute duration piece of original composition for concert band at a grade level of roughly grade 4. The composer will receive an award of $2,000 and reimbursement up to $1000 for travel expenses to attend the ACB Convention for the premiere if available to attend. The piece will be premiered at the annual convention of the Association of Concert Bands to be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico April 27-May 2, 2021.
