SIGMA ALPHA IOTA ANNUAL AWARDS 2 0 2 0 FALL 2020 16 PAN PIPES NATIONAL COLLEGIATE LEADERSHIP AWARD Alexis N . Pear t Sigma Theta, Eastman School of Music, Eta A , Region VIII In her time as Sigma Theta Treasurer and President, Alexis' vision for her chapter transformed it from struggling to survive to thriving. She is an inspirational leader that encourages chapter members to stay committed to being an active part of the chapter. Through her hard work, the Sigma Theta chapter has become the first (and only) student organization permitted to fundraise in conjunction with an official Eastman School of Music performance. Their rose sale, which happens each semester for their opera performances, has raised hundreds of dollars to benefit community organizations as well as the chapter. She has also worked hard to foster leadership within each member of the chapter. Under her leadership, the chapter re-established committees to carry out various chapter operations. Not only has this allowed the chapter to do more in the way of fundraising, service, and social activities, it has primed members to take positions in higher leadership on the chapter's executive board. Alexis' leadership has reached outside of the bounds of the Sigma Theta chapter, as well. She has worked hard to establish relationships with the other chapters in Eta A and B Provinces through attendance at Officer Training and Province Days. One of her goals has been to establish a network of chapters that are able to support and inspire each other with ideas for fundraising, sister bonding, and service activities.
