She made her Carnegie Hall debut singing Verdi's Messa da Requiem, and is an international star of high acclaim. Professor ompson has been lauded throughout the world as a singer with great depth, warmth, beauty, style and heart. Noted composers David Winkler, Craig Bohmler, Steven Sametz, Ricky Ian Gordon, and omas Cipullo have written works expressly for her. Her discography includes the sound track to a French movie ("Deux Ramoneurs chez une Cantatrice") and 3 CD's (including "Jeanette ompson sings Negro Spirituals"). She has won numerous competitions in several nations, including a Gold Medal at the Famed Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels. Ms. ompson received a Bachelors of Music from Florida State University, where she was originally initiated into Sigma Alpha Iota by the Beta Alpha Chapter, and a Masters of Music from Rice University. She has command of Italian, French, German, and Turkish, and for six years served on the faculty of the International Summer Festival of the Arts in Belgium. She has served on the faculties of the University of Wisconsin- Madison, City University of New York-Medgar Evers, Vassar College, Lehigh University, and Izmir State Conservatory of Music in Turkey, where she founded a Singing Competition for Young Singers and for 9 years served as president of the jury. She invited directors, conductors, and impresarios from opera companies all over the world (including the Metropolitan Opera, Aspen, Chicago, LaScala, etc.). rough this competition, she has helped provide jobs, opportunities, and has placed many young singers in companies throughout the world. As a teacher, she is noted as an outstanding technician of singing. DR. DANIEL ALBERT Dr. Daniel Albert was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Lambda Phi Chapter at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst in May. Dr. Albert is Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He received his Bachelor of Music degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, his Master of Music (Music Education) degree from the University of Michigan, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education degree from Michigan State University. In his short time on the UMass faculty, Dr. Albert has set a precedent of compassion, sincerity, integrity, respect, diligence, and hard work for himself and his students. e high standards he sets for himself while being an incredibly understanding and approachable person inspires students to always strive for their best. Dr. Albert was previously Assistant Professor of Music, Human Development, and Learning at Augsburg University in Minneapolis. Prior to his graduate studies, Albert taught classroom general music and instrumental music for 11 years at Glenbrook and Williams Middle Schools in Longmeadow, MA. Additionally, Daniel was Chairperson, Immediate Past Chairperson, and Treasurer of the Western District of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA), Western District Representative to the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association's Executive Board, and a member of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Arts Education Advisory Council. In addition, he has been a prolific contributor to publications in music education journals, magazines, and books, including the Journal of Research in Music Education, Journal of Music Teacher Education, Arts Education Policy Review, and Research Studies in Music Education. As part of his service to the profession, Dr. Albert is serving a four-year term as a member of the Editorial Committee of Music Educators Journal. His research interests include pre-service music teacher education curricula, pre-service and in-service music teacher identity, culture and community in music education, and pre- and in-service teacher mentoring practices. A strong proponent of partnerships with K-12 music educators and arts organizations, Dr. Albert continues to be active as a presenter at state, regional, and national music education conferences. He studied percussion with Eduardo Leandro, omas Hannum, Peter Tanner, and William Hanley, and continues to make music as a freelance percussionist. DR. CHRISTOPHER HAYGOOD Dr. Christopher Haygood was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Iota Alpha Chapter at Oklahoma State University (OSU) in May. Dr. Haygood currently serves as the Interim Director of Choral and Vocal Studies at Oklahoma State University. At OSU, he conducts the Concert Chorale and teaches both graduate and undergraduate conducting courses. Since his arrival, the OSU University Singers have performed at Carnegie Hall and for the OMEA Winter Conference, and the Concert Chorale was recently invited to perform as a part of the 2022 Vox anima concert series in London, England, commencing the Platinum Jubilee celebration for Queen Elizabeth II. Dr. Haygood was honored as the 2018 recipient of the Distinguished Professor of Music Award presented by First Lady Ann Hargis. Dr. Haygood has conducted and has appeared as a clinician all over the world, from Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and across the United States. Notable guest conductor appearances include the National Choir of Taiwan in the National Concert Hall of Taipei, the Bacau Philharmonic, and the Vidin State Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria. He has prepared choruses for collaborations with Helmuth Rilling, Andrea Bocelli, Jennifer Hudson, and e Tonight Show. Diverse research interests led Dr. Haygood to Prague, for exploration into the choral music of Holocaust survivor Petr Eben, and New Zealand, for research of choral music based on texts of the Māori. Additionally, he has published articles on music research and conducting pedagogy in the Distinguished Members NATIONAL ARTS ASSOCIATE a man or woman who is nationally recognized for distinguished contribution to the arts
