D ear Readers, It's fall, which means the very large, very full awards issue of PAN PIPES is here! Please enjoy reading about the great work done by our members and chapters for SAI, their communities, and their schools. To coincide with the award announcements, we also have a number of articles and testimonials from recipients of the grants and scholarships available from SAI Philanthropies, Inc. PAN PIPES would not be complete without additional pieces on various musical topics, including: women in conducting and the gender gap by PO Ashley Matse; Jayne Hanlin's recounting of her trip to France's Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux; and Kathi Bower Peterson's two book reviews related to women in music. We also share a final Grace Note for two of our SAI's: Gloria Swisher and Ruth Greenfield. Our next issue, Winter 2024, will include a number of articles related to composers, as well as the accompanying digital issue of the Annual Composers Update from members of our SAI Composers Bureau.
