Ellen is described as a leader to both her chapter and the School of Music at the University of Kentucky. Her talent and passion for music, her positivity, and her complete devotion to the Delta Omega Chapter and music community are reasons she was nominated for this award. Ellen was initiated into Sigma Alpha Iota in the fall of 2020 and shortly thereafter was elected the Vice President Membership. She demonstrated her perseverance, excitement, and love for the Fraternity as she educated Members in Training despite the difficulties posed by the global pandemic. As treasurer for the chapter, she worked with the chapter's advisor to implement a new ledger system to better organize chapter finances. As President, she was able to bring a love for SAI and its ritual back to the chapter in spite of the hardships in returning to normal operations after the pandemic. Ellen worked to get a travel grant that supported two members' trip to the 2022 SAI National Convention. In addition to her work in Sigma Alpha Iota, Ellen has served in leadership roles for other organizations on campus, including Tau Beta Sigma, the University of Kentucky International Tuba and Euphonium Association, and the Fine Arts Undergraduate Student Council. Her dedication to the Delta Omega chapter never wavered despite her numerous affiliations. Ellen consistently exemplifies the ideals of Sigma Alpha Iota in all areas of her life through a foundation of authentic, servant leadership.
