FALL 2022 26 Fall 2023 26 Fratnity Awar 2 0 2 3 S I G M A A L P H A I O T A KATHERINE BECKER NATIONAL COLLEGIATE CHAPTER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD NU ALPHA T h e C o l l e g e o f N e w J e rs ey, N u A l p h a , P h i A , R e g i o n V I I I The Nu Alpha Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) had a very successful year, despite being a new chapter still recovering from the effects of the pandemic. Nu Alpha focused on enhancing their reputation on campus and improving music development within the music department at their school. Throughout this fraternity year, the chapter has focused on the National Objectives and made dedicated efforts to promote the mission and vision of Sigma Alpha Iota on their campus. "To build a lifetime commitment to Sigma Alpha Iota," the Nu Alpha chapter has encouraged cohesive initiatives that display the passion the chapter has for Sigma Alpha Iota. The chapter has encouraged graduating members to continue in the sisterhood by joining the Alumnae Association and finding a local alumnae chapter where they will move after graduation. The Nu Alpha Chapter hosted several public performances, held alone and in conjunction with other campus organizations, to "prioritize music in all aspects of chapter programming." The chapter hosted a service project where they went to a local preschool and worked with the students on musical activities. Nu Alpha worked to build and "rekindle sisterhood in their chapter" through a game of "Sisterly Feud" where the chapter was able to connect with MITs and help them prepare for their membership exam. They also hosted a Yoga and Meditation event to help members decompress and destress after a tough midterm season. Nu Alpha was also able to raise $435.81 to donate to SAI Philanthropies, Inc. The Nu Alpha Chapter has worked extremely hard to build positive relationships and promote music on their campus. The chapter has earned several congratulations and kudos from several members of TCNJ faculty and continues to encourage, nurture, and support the art of music.
