Fall 2023 33 FALL 2022 33 Fratnity Awar 2 0 2 3 S I G M A A L P H A I O T A HELEN MAY NATIONAL ALUMNAE CHAPTER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD RENO ALUMNAE D e l t a B, R e g i o n I This year's recipient is the Reno Alumnae Chapter from Reno, Nevada. The chapter had a busy year dedicating their energies to fulfilling our National Objectives while growing their love of the Fraternity. This was the first year the Reno Alumnae Chapter did not have a local collegiate chapter to draw new membership from. Despite this, the chapter welcomed and affiliated three new members. The chapter volunteered to host Province Day in place of the recently closed Eta Omicron chapter, and they encouraged several non-affiliated sisters to attend. The day focused on sisterhood and music with a musicale featuring collegiate and alumnae members. The day also included a lesson on handbells that ended in the group playing a version of the SAI Chorale. Their Vice President, Membership presented a workshop on building the sisterhood and the benefits of affiliating with an alumnae chapter. Reno worked as a team to plan the event, along with hosting visiting members in their homes overnight. Music was also a main focus for the chapter's activities, leading them to prioritize it at every meeting, as well as at their fundraiser and service project events. The chapter enjoyed singing songs from the SAI red book during rehearsals and at meetings. The variety of music performed during their meetings provided the sisters with opportunities to play ukuleles, recorders, and handbells. As a fundraiser, the chapter "Carols for Camp" — they sing carols throughout a neighborhood for donations during the holidays. The Reno Alumnae Chapter continues their annual support of a local scholarship that enables a local youth to attend the Lake Tahoe Music Camp, as well as making their annual donation to SAI Philanthropies, Inc. to support its many projects. Their Province Officer is very proud of all they have accomplished this year.
