Espie (she/her) is a PhD candidate in Musicology at Florida State University. She holds a Master of Music in Ethnomusicology from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Delaware. She is a recent recipient of the Society for American Music Margery Lowens Dissertation Research Fellowship. She has previously taught at Florida State University, the University of the Arts, and is currently an adjunct instructor at the University of Delaware. Stephanie's research interests include childhood music, Caribbean music, world music pedagogy, community network building, and race and whiteness. Her dissertation "The Spirit of Carnival: Entangled Understandings of Junior Panorama" highlights the annual Junior Panorama steelband competition in Trinidad and Tobago and analyzes the nexus of influences at play within youth- oriented spaces. She argues that local community ensembles, private corporations, and the Trinidadian government have all cultivated a vested interest in the competition, and these competing influences have dictated the development of the competition in recent years. Stephanie was initiated into Sigma Alpha Iota by the Eta Rho chapter at the University of Delaware and has been affiliated with the Northern Delaware Alumnae Chapter. She previously served as the Lambda B Province Officer from 2017-2018 and 2019-2022. She is a recipient of the Collegiate Honor Award, the Sword of Honor, the Ruby Sword of Honor, and the National Collegiate Leadership Award. STEPHANIE R. ESPIE NORTHERN DEL AWARE , CHI A , REGION VIII
