32 Winter 2024 • sai-national.org CALL FOR IWBC CONFERENCE PRESENTERS The International Women's Brass Conference (IWBC) is accepting applications for its summer conference in Mito, Japan (August 14-18, 2024). Information is available for those looking to present a lecture, perform a recital, participate in a group recital, volunteer, judge a competition, and lead a warm up session. DEADLINE: March 1, 2024 WEBSITE: https://conference.myiwbc.org/present/ STRING ORCHESTRA RETREAT AT INTERLOCHEN Whether you're looking to improve your technique, learn new repertoire, or simply enjoy playing in a string ensemble, the String Orchestra Retreat is for you. You'll learn from Interlochen's world- renowned string instructors, perform a public concert, and make long-lasting friendships with string enthusiasts from all around the country. Open to all levels, the retreat is designed for anyone who loves string music and wants to improve their playing. The repertoire will be tailored to the ensemble size and experience level. Suggested pieces for this year's program will be posted to the website in early February of 2024. Participants will work with renowned faculty throughout the duration of the program. The retreat will include social activities designed to build community among participants, while giving opportunities to experience the beauty and vibrancy of Interlochen's campus in the winter. IAWM offers a number of programs for musicians, including concerts, competitions, conferences, educational initiatives, and promotional opportunities. WEBSITE: https://jobs.musicalamerica.com/ NFMC COMPETITIONS The National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), an SAI Affiliate, offers more than $750,000 in competition and award prizes on the local, state, and national level. The Biennial Young Artist and Ellis Duo-Pianists competitions award a total of $92,000 in awards and two years of performance bookings. Additional competitions are sponsored by the Federation in a wide range of categories, including voice, instrumental music, composition, dance, conducting, handicapped and visually impaired, and music therapy. NFMC also sponsors more than 38 annual and biennial awards for students desiring to attend the 20 sponsored Summer Music Centers.
