Fraternity Awards 2024 SIGMA ALPHA IOTA PAN PIPES FALL 2024 12 MU IOTA Western Kentucky University, Psi B, Region VII KATHERINE BECKER NATIONAL COLLEGIATE CHAPTER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Mu Iota is very involved in the music department at Western Kentucky University. They work well with other music organizations, are well-liked by the music department, and have dedicated advisors. For the 2023–24 school year, the chapter initiated thirteen new members—the largest number of initiates in many years. The chapter is seen as inclusive, helps usher activities when asked, leaves cases of water near the music department office to encourage people to stay hydrated, and has placed baskets of feminine products in the restrooms of the building. One can find SAI flyers on most bulletin boards to advertise SAI and the chapter, placed by the Editor. The Editor also maintains the chapter's Instagram and Facebook pages, where they post many of their public events and fundraisers. The chapter has raised $1,500 in fundraisers throughout the year, through Café Rose and selling Spooky Baskets and roses. The chapter noticed the university didn't offer a minority scholarship, so they started one. The Margaret Munday Minority Scholarship is named for the first African-American undergraduate to attend WKU. They fund the scholarship through donations and host an Annual Minorities in Music Scholarship Benefit Concert. At the concert, the chapter invites other organizations, choirs, and individuals to perform with them. This will be their second year awarding the scholarship. To be considered for the scholarship one must be admitted to the WKU Music Department, a person of color, and hold a 2.5 GPA or higher. Congratulations to Mu Iota for this recognition.
