Philanthropies Awards 2024 SIGMA ALPHA IOTA PAN PIPES FALL 2024 30 IMPACT PROJECT GRANTS EPSILON PI Truman State University, Pi A, Region III Together, Epsilon Pi and the Truman State Music Department host the North Star New Music Festival, an annual event that celebrates new compositions and music by contemporary composers. The closing concert of the festival premiers a new work commissioned for a university ensemble. With help from the Impact Project Grant, the chapter was able to commission a new musical duo for this year's festival. The funds helped to continue the tradition of commissioning a new work, and cover expenses to bring a guest composer to campus. ZETA TAU University of Central Florida, Lambda C, Region VI Zeta Tau and the music department at the University of Central Florida have together created the Inclusive Knights Concert. This annual concert aims to build a community around music-making and enjoyment for all, especially those with disabilities or who are neurodivergent. The concert supports individuals who might not otherwise be able to attend a concert, including interactive elements where the audience claps and plays percussive instruments along with the band. The Knights Concert is free to attend. ANDREA AUGER-COLE Alumnae Member In the restructuring of the West Bloomfield School District, limited funds were available for elementary students to obtain musical instruments. The Music Education Outreach Grant helped develop the Gretchko Elementary Ukulele Program, giving third and fourth graders the opportunity to learn and study a stringed instrument. AMANDA FISHEL Winchester Alumnae, Iota C, Region VIII At Myersville Elementary School, only fourth and fifth grade students in band or chorus performed music. With the Music Education Outreach Grant, students of all ages now have that same chance. The funds went toward issues of Music K–8 magazine, with accompanying recordings. This provides engaging songs not only for chorus, but also use in daily curriculum and the annual Arts Night concert. ELIZABETH GASKILL Clarksville Alumnae, Psi C, Region IV The music program at Cumberland Heights Elementary School is expanding, but funding is limited. The Music Education Outreach Grant has helped purchase new instruments, including drums and glockenspiels. With these instruments, students gain more hands- on experience both in the classroom and in public performances. LAURA SHEPARD Sponsored by Kacee Sanders, Psi C, Region IV In the Metro Nashville Public Schools, four middle schools can now come together for a joint collaborative concert. The Music Education Outreach Grant helped create this concert, which marks the culmination of the students' middle school journey. It offers networking opportunities, advanced musical training, and relationship-building that will carry into high school. MUSIC EDUCATION OUTREACH GRANTS
