Green's dissertation is titled Hidden Notes: The Impact and Legacy of Flutist, Educator,
and Administrator Dorothy Antoinette Handy. A Black female flutist and composer, Handy
was also educator at several HBCUs, one of the first Black musicians of the Richmond
Symphony, and wrote several books on Black musicians in the classical and jazz fields.
She was also Director of Music for the National Endowment of the Arts, where she was
responsible for having jazz recognized for funding nationally.
MUSIC THERAPY SCHOLARSHIP
Alyssa Ruffini

Alyssa Ruffini was admitted to Tempo! Music Therapy services in Nutley, New Jersey. She will soon begin
working with children in the local school systems with cognitive and developmental disabilities. In addition to
working in the school systems, they own their own private clinic where they provide group and 1:1 sessions. Ruffini
also plans to open her own clinic one day, with an interdisciplinary team offering Music Therapy, Art Therapy, OT,
and PT. While she plans to see an array of client populations, she aims to specialize in neurologic music therapy
assisting patients who have had TBIs and Spinal Cord injuries.
