The middle and high school ensembles use these keyboards regularly, but introducing this resource at the elementary level will prepare students more effectively for advanced ensemble work. Training will also be offered for elementary instrumental music staff on how to integrate the Harmony Director into classrooms and rehearsals. Sarah Deal Iota Zeta, Tau A, Region VI Ivy Creek Elementary expanded its Special Education program by introducing additional self-contained classrooms to support Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 2 students, which allows them to participate in general education music. Barred instruments are introduced in the 2nd grade music curriculum (xylophones, metallophones, etc.) but ASD-2 students have difficulty playing them. They struggle holding the mallets and hitting the correct bars, even with paraprofessional support. Funds from this grant will help purchase a set of contrabass bars, which are a larger size and played with oversize mallets. These bars are a natural accommodation to aid students in hand-eye coordination and accuracy. Shelby Moss Charlotte, Tau B, Region VI Leford Middle School's choral program has nearly doubled in size, which has highlighted a critical need: the current choral risers are outdated, damaged, and no longer meet safety or capacity requirements. This grant will fund the purchase of three new Wenger Tourmaster choral risers, which will address not only safety concerns but also enhance the quality of rehearsals and performances. Cheryl Poe Gainesville, Lambda D, Region VI The After School Arts Program (ASAP) at Caring and Sharing Learning School provides opportunities for all students to engage in the arts. Funds from this grant will help provide essential materials and supplies for its piano classes and much- needed materials to grow the newly-organized woodwind classes. Students participating in ASAP will share their musical progress with classmates and perform at school recitals and other public venues. MUSIC EDUCATION OUTREACH GRANTS
