What is Impostor Syndrome?
Impostor syndrome is defined as a psychological pattern where an individual doubts their skills, talents,
or accomplishments, and fears being exposed as a "fraud." Its root causes include past traumatic experiences,
perfectionism, comparison culture, external validating focus, and high-achieving environments.

Remember!
• Impostor syndrome may whisper that you're not enough, but
preparation, community, and self-belief speak louder.
• You have every right to take up space on the stage and share
your artistry with the world.
• Confidence is a practice, not a personality trait—one built
through reflection, repetition, and resilience.
• You are not alone! You are not an impostor, and your voice
matters.
How to Overcome
1. Prepare with purpose – preparation builds confidence,
reduces anxiety, and improves performance outcomes.
2. Reframe negative self-talk – Replace "I'm not good enough"
with "I'm still learning, and making progress."
3. Affirm your achievements – Naming your accomplishments
helps solidify a confident performer identity.
4. Community connection – Talking with others reduces shame
and builds support.
5. Celebrate and own your growth – Self-kindness counters
perfectionism and burnout.
