6 Fall 2026 | sai-national.org I In our previous update, we shared the ongoing work of Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. to care for and preserve our National Headquarters—our Fraternity home and an important part of the history and legacy of Sigma Alpha Iota. This past July, the Board of Directors of Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. met to continue that important work and to take the next steps toward a Capital Campaign for National Headquarters. This Capital Campaign is anticipated to be a five-year effort, culminating at the 2031 National Convention. Understanding the Need The Board has identified a number of projects for National Headquarters that have already been addressed, or will require attention, in the years ahead. The scope of these projects is significant. In fact, the combined cost of the needs already identified exceeds the anticipated fundraising goal for the Capital Campaign. This campaign is therefore one important part of a larger, long-term commitment to responsible stewardship of our Fraternity home. Together, the projects for which costs have already been identified represent approximately $372,000. Those projects are: Re-siding the building, roof and leak repairs, retaining wall replacement and upgrade, tree work and property safety, paving and painting the parking lot, generator installation and maintenance, sentinel database upgrade, and other facility needs that may arise. Additional future projects remain under consideration, including painting and preservation of the fence, work on exterior light poles, the back staircase and fire escape, and plumbing repairs and improvements. Some of these expenses represent work that has already been necessary to protect the building and property, while others are projects we know will need to be addressed as we plan for the future. The list will continue to evolve as the Board evaluates priorities, obtains estimates, and determines the most responsible path forward. Planning With Purpose Launching a successful five-year campaign requires thoughtful planning. The Board is currently working to determine campaign priorities, the overall fundraising goal, giving opportunities, recognition plans, and the ways our members, chapters, and friends will be invited to participate. Although the Capital Campaign had not yet officially launched, Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. has already been deeply grateful to receive gifts designated for this effort. Those early contributions are a meaningful expression of confidence in the importance of preserving National Headquarters. Members and friends who wish to support this work before the formal campaign launch are welcome to do so. Gifts may continue to be designated for the Capital Campaign, and every contribution—at every level—will help us prepare for the needs of today and tomorrow. As plans are finalized, we look forward to sharing much more about the campaign, its priorities, and the opportunities for the entire SAI community to take part. Our National Headquarters represents more than a building. It holds our history, supports the work of our Fraternity, and serves as a tangible connection between generations of Sigma Alpha Iota members. A five-year Capital Campaign gives us an opportunity not only to respond to repairs as they arise, but also to plan intentionally for the future. By investing in our Fraternity home today, we help ensure that it remains strong, secure, and ready to serve Sigma Alpha Iota for generations to come. SAIPHILANTHROPIESINC. Just imagine how it would feel to lose some of your eyesight and no longer be able to play music because the music is too small to read. The Bold Notes Project enlarges these selections via a computer program (Musescore, Finale, or Sibelius) so that one can resume performing on their favorite instrument. The collections are stored at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC and are available, free of charge, to individuals who are visually impaired around the world. Won't you join me in this endeavor? This can be done individually or as a chapter project. For further information I can be reached at saiboldnotes@gmail.
