He is the husband of Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter member Robin Dinsmoor Engl. Dr. Julia Foster Soprano Dr. Julia Foster, initiated by the Lambda Iota Chapter in May, is active in the stage, concert, and teaching arenas. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Voice Foster at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. Dr. Foster's recent engagements have included Mozart's Great Mass in C Minor, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Poulenc's Gloria, and Bach's Mass in B Minor. She has performed the roles of Beth in Adamo's Little Women, Vitige in Handel's Flavio, and Pamina in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. Other favorites include Blanche in Dialogues of the Carmelites, the title role in Poulenc's Les Mamelles de Tirésias, Rose Maurrant in Kurt Weill's Street Scene, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, and Adele in Die Fledermaus. An advocate for the performance of Art Song, Dr. Foster is a frequent recitalist. Susan Lamb Susan Lamb was initiated by the San Francisco Peninsula Alumnae Chapter in June. Lamb is a passionate flutist and instructor who began teaching flute lessons when she Lamb was 14. She paid for her entire college education with teaching and professional performances at local events and venues and worked at Crater Lake National Park in the summers. She has performed with various symphonies, orchestras, chamber groups, and as a soloist in California and in Oregon. Currently she teaches through Susan Lamb Music Studios and performs chamber music – in addition to working full-time managing customer programs in the high-tech manufacturing industry. 18 PAN PIPESSUMMER 2013 sai-national.org James Pinson James Pinson was initiated by the Iota Omega Chapter in April. Pinson teaches all four levels of Music Therapy Practicum, Music Therapy Skills, Arranging, and Functional Piano at Texas Woman's University. He previously served as Music Director at Denton State School, a residential facility for persons with developmental disabilities. He is co-author with Dr. Donald Michel of Music Therapy in Principle and Practice, a textbook translated into Japanese in 2007. As a composer, Pinson has had over 100 hymns, songs, and instrumental pieces published and recorded. He has received the ASCAP-Plus Award every year since 2000. He is a member of the American Music Therapy Association and former President of the Southwestern Region AMTA. He is also a former member of the board of directors of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers. Pinson is founding director of the Denton Bell Band, an ensemble made up of adults with disabilities, and he directs the Denton Senior Center Chime Choir and the Redbud Ringers, a student ensemble of music therapy majors. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Southern Methodist University and his Master's in Music Theory and Composition from American University. Dr. Sylvia Stoner-Hawkins Dr. Sylvia Stoner-Hawkins was initiated by the Topeka Alumnae Chapter in May. The Director of Opera and Lecturer in Voice at Washburn University, she previously served as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Kansas and continues to offer master classes and lessons for the Lyric Opera of Kansas City High School Honors Program. She also served as an interim lecturer at the University of Saint Mary and Skidmore College. She was Featured Artist of the New York State Music Teachers Association Conference and has been published in Abbott's Contribution to Musical Theater through the 1950s and the New Grove Dictionary of American Music. She received her Bachelor's Degree magna cum laude in Arts in Music and Theatre from Skidmore College, her Master's in Vocal Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and her Doctorate in Vocal Performance from the University of Kansas. Dr. Timothy P Strong . Dr. Timothy P. Strong was initiated by the Tacoma Alumnae Chapter in June. He has performed nationally in both solo and ensemble capacities. He directs the vocal groups A New Tapestry and Diverse Gems with his wife Karen Oleson, a Sigma Zeta initiate and Tacoma Alumnae Chapter member. They recently coproduced, composed and arranged vocal Strong training CDs. At the age of 19, Mr. Strong appeared in the second Van Cliburn International competition and was runnerup in the Brewster-Allison National Piano competition. He began teaching piano in 1968. He was Assistant Professor, Music at Central Washington University, Associate Professor at Pierce College, and Affiliate Faculty at the University of Puget Sound. He has taught with the Community Music Department at the University of Puget Sound since 1986 and teaches applied piano at Pacific Lutheran University. He has also presented and directed workshops and adjudicated piano events. Angela Winter Angela Winter was initiated by the Iota Omega Chapter in April. She has served as horn instructor in school districts throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex as well as the University of North Texas where she serves as a teaching fellow. She also was associate director of bands at Lakeview Middle School in The Colony, TX. Winter has performed with numerous ensembles including the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra, Irving Symphony Orchestra, Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra, and Plano Symphony Orchestra. She earned her Bachelor's in Music Education from the University of Memphis, her Master's in Horn Performance and Music Education from the University of North Texas, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Horn Performance from the University of North Texas. Jesse Woolery Jesse Woolery was initiated by the Iota Omega Chapter in April. The instructor of jazz bands at Texas Woman's University and a Perry R. Bass Fellowship Award winner, Woolery has diverse experience teaching music in urban, rural, and suburban settings. He started his teaching career as director of bands at Dallas's T. W.
