A Word from the National President W Dear Members of Sigma Alpha Iota, hat a wonderful experience all those in attendance had at our 46th Annual National Convention in Atlanta, Georgia in August! Imagine hearing 750 sisters joined hand in hand singing the SAI Chorale. I know that everyone there recommitted herself to the goals of our fraternity. In this issue of Pan Pipes, you will be introduced to the members of the National Executive Board for the 2012-2015 Triennium. Following Convention, the NEB appointed Sharon Doty as the Chairman of SAI Philanthropies, Inc. Sharon was initiated into the Alpha Iota chapter at the University of Oklahoma graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. Her later education endeavors include a Juris Doctorate, a Master's degree in Human Relations, and a Diploma in Interdisciplinary Training in Child Abuse and Neglect, all from Oklahoma. Sharon's eclectic background as speaker, trainer, development director, litigator and professional writer will serve to enhance the mission and vision of our philanthropic work. I hope you will enjoy reading the many interesting articles, including the Met Live production broadcasts, teaching conversational English through music by Dorothy Kittaka, SAI Music Education Director, and the close relationship of SAI and Porgy and Bess. Over the last 107 years SAI has grown into a strong and vital organization that benefits its members and communities in the United States and around the world. The strength, diversity, and vibrancy of our membership will ensure that the fraternity and its ideals continue for many generations. I am honored to serve as your National President for such an amazing organization.
