OPPORTUNITIES Symphony In C Young Composers' Competition Contest is open only for composers born after September 22, 1982. Works with a performance history are eligible, and instrumentation details are answered at the website below. Prize includes a performance of the winning work by Symphony In C in September, a recording of the performance, and roundtrip domestic airfare to rehearsals and performance. Deadline: July 31, 2012 Contact: Daniel Dorff, Composer-in-Residence, competition@danieldorff.com Website: danieldorff.com/ youngcomposers.htm + + + International Clarinet Association 2013 Composition Competition The 2013 Composition Competition call is a work for B-flat clarinet and electronics (live/ interactive or pre-recorded), at least 10 minutes in length. The submitted work must have no prior performances. The competition is open to composers, clarinetists, and musicians who desire to further the repertoire of the clarinet with an original composition. A committee having no knowledge of the contestant will conduct the judging of scores and parts. The winning composition will receive $1,000 and a world premiere performance during ClarinetFest 2013, July 24-28, 2013 in Assisi, Italy. If the winner is a clarinetist, he/she must be a member of the ICA. Past first-prize winners are not eligible to compete. All contestants will accept the decision of the judges as final. The ICA will provide the performers for the premiere performance. All scores and parts will become the property of the ICA Research Center at the University of Maryland Performing Arts Library and will not be returned. Inglefield, ruthki@chesint.net + + + Alabama Orchestra Association 2013 Annual Composition Contest The winning composer will receive a cash award of $1,500. In addition, the winning composition will be performed at the 2013 Alabama All-State Orchestra Festival at the University Of Alabama in Tuscaloosa on February 10, 2013. The winning composer will also be awarded a residency at the 2013 Alabama All-State Orchestra Festival, which will include airfare from any point in the continental US, accommodations, transportation, and meals. The Composition Contest of the USA International Harp Competition takes place prior to the triennial performance competition. Deadline: October 1, 2012 he National Executive Board will be appointing a new Chairman of SAI Philanthropies, Inc. following the 2012 convention. Daryle Gardner-Bonneau, who served as NVP-Finance from 2002 to 2009 and as Philanthropies Chairman for the past triennium, has announced that she will be stepping down as she continues her career in engineering consulting. Applications for this appointed volunteer position will be accepted through next July. The Chairman presides at all Philanthropies Board meetings (usually once or twice a year) and attends meetings of the Fraternity's National Executive Board (twice a year). She sees that all resolutions and directives of the Board are carried out through the coordinators and project directors of SAI Philanthropies.
