Editor's Notes A Dear Readers, pril showers bring May flowers! Spring has sprung, and beautiful roses are blooming. This has been a fabulous year so far, and there are many exciting things happening all over the world that we're excited to share with you in this issue of PAN PIPES. I hope you're all as excited as I am for SAI National Convention in Atlanta! August 2 is quickly approaching, and this issue is full of important information that will help you prepare for this triennial event. Make sure that you're registered by going to sai-national.org and clicking on "The Healing Power of Music" convention logo. Once there, you'll find a convention schedule, links for registration, hotel and transportation information, convention announcements, job descriptions, and nomination forms for officer elections, and how to purchase the official convention charm through Herff Jones. For those who have never had the opportunity to attend SAI National Convention before, it is truly an extraordinary experience. It is five days of music, education, philanthropy, and amazing SAI sisterhood. To me, the bonds of friendship never seem stronger than when over 850 SAI sisters come together to sing the Chorale. It's thrilling, and something that every SAI should experience. Register today! Jayne Hanlin recently visited Cartagena, Columbia, and had an opportunity to attend a wonderful concert during the Cartagena Music Festival. Be sure to read about her unique international music experience at the Concierto Jóvenes Talentos. The Music Education Outreach Grants (MEOG) campaign raised over $30,000 for SAI Philanthropies, Inc. Kennedy Violins, of Portland, WA, a corporate sponsor, went above and beyond, supporting SAI Philanthropies, Inc by donating more than $7,300 to date. Over the course of the year, many SAIs have donated instruments, sheet music, and given monetary assistance to the People-to-People Project. Liana Valente, Director of People-to-People, has sent an extensive update about the fabulous donations that have been received, and how they are being utilized in music programs throughout the world. Be sure to read all about them, and start thinking about how you can contribute to the continued success of this great project. Finally, please enjoy reading about noted soprano Marquita Lister, and her triumphant struggle over a medical mystery to return to the stage.
