In June 2011, volunteers from the U.S. delivered replacement wind and brass instruments, music stands, reeds, and other accessories supplied by P2P to the musicians involved with the newly formed Music Project. BELIZE Independent music teacher Elaine Pinkerton continues to receive assistance from P2P. In 2011, Elaine received piano and organ scores and music education materials donated by chapters and friends of SAI. Elaine submitted a request for wind instruments and the project was also able to send a flute and clarinet, allowing her to expand her lesson offerings to include wind instruments. NIGERIA Our music colleagues often live in areas of the globe that pose interesting logistical challenges. This is the case with Jerry Gopep, an independent music teacher who lives in Nigeria's Plateau State. Jerry shares his love of music with students and adults by teaching at schools and churches throughout the country. However, he is unable to purchase instruments or music in Nigeria. 6 PAN PIPESSPRING 2012 sai-national.org Lambda Eta initiate Tiffany Feltner joined members of the Lee University Band on their musical mission trip to Cuba during the summer of 2011. (As seen in the Summer 2011 PAN PIPES). The project was able to donate over $500 worth of instrument repair supplies so that Tiffany and other members of Lee University could assist with the repairs needed by members of the Cuban National Band. Tiffany returned to Cuba under the auspices of Harmony International in May 2012 with more repair equipment and replacement parts donated by the project.
