I am working on several commissions scheduled to premiere in 2012, as well as writing incidental music for an intergenerational play entitled The Mystery of the Cold, Wet Nose. Throughout the year I arranged several pieces for cabaret performances by tenor Jay Hill. DR. JACK GALLAGHER • • • NEWS: Naxos CD 8.55965, of Jack Gallagher's works recorded by the London Symphony under the direction of JoAnn Falletta at Abbey Road Studios, has been widely acclaimed. Awarded five stars by BBC Music Magazine, the disc was heralded by Gramophone as "fresh and exuberant." Audiophile Audition, also awarding the disc five stars, called the Symphony in One Movement: Threnody "truly a work of genius," adding, "If you buy only one disc of new music this year, I would certainly suggest this." National Public Radio's "Deceptive Cadence" described Gallagher's music as being "brilliantly orchestrated and impeccably constructed."
