Additionally, she performed a concert of sacred organ music, as well as giving piano concerts featuring beeson folk, classical, and entertainment styles. Beeson has given presentations on Romantic Vocal Music, and lectured on English Folk Song and English Opera. She also lectured on Performance Practices in Sacred Worship. LAUREN BERNOFSKY NEWS: I have been commissioned by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington (IN) to write a children's musical on several creation stories, on a libretto by Stephen Hammoor. The musical is entitled "BOOM" and is slated to be premiered, Spring 2012. I have also received a commission from Kim Carballo (Indiana University) to compose a short opera to be taken on tour by students at Indiana U. as part of a program that brings operas into area schools, libraries, and hospitals. The librettist for this opera is Scott Russell Sanders, who will base the libretto on his novel, "The Engineer of Beasts." ROBERT BOURY • • • NEWS: Boury was appointed Composer in Residence at the University of Little Rock at Arkansas in March 2011. His librettist for the next commission will be Brittany Barber of Atlanta, GA, and their new opera will be based on a short story by Mark Twain. In April, June and August 2011, Boury collaborated with lyricist and poet Kara Bibb in teaching Songwriting to children (ages 8-15) in the Community School for the boury Arts at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Beginning, Fall 2011, Boury has been invited to perform regularly for patients at the University of Arkansas Medical Science Cancer Institute in Little Rock.
