OPPORTUNITIES Loughborough University Choral Composition Competition (England) To mark the beginning of the 2012 London Olympics, Loughborough University is holding a competition for both established and emerging composers. A new choral work for the University Choir to perform with piano accompaniment during May 2012. The winning composition will be between 20 - 30 mins, and will be an uplifting celebratory piece for SATB chorus, in the tradition of great classical or pop anthems, with piano accom (or orchestral/ band with piano reduction). Words should be in public domain (ie not subject to copyright restrictions) or created for the composition. It should celebrate Loughborough's sporting tradition and success, along with the spirit of endeavor, fun and friendship that characterizes the student experience. An international competition to choose two recorder quartets, written for 3 recorders, keyboard, and optional percussion. Should contain 3 - 5 movements and be of intermediate difficulty so that in the future, non-professional groups could find them attainable. The two winning entries will be premiered in 2012 and will be published. Category 2: Harpsichord with one singer and one acoustic instrument (modern or period). Not more than 10 mins. May be for professionals.
