friend of the arts as Assistant Professor of Voice in Lee University's School of Music. She has served in the Department of Vocal Music of Lee University's School of Music since 1992.  From 1993-1999, she conducted the women's chorus (Ladies of Lee), which toured Israel, five Abaco Islands of the Bahamas, 27 states of the U.S. including Alaska, and produced four recordings. The Ladies of Lee performed annually for the Biltmore Estate Candlelight Christmas Evenings in Asheville, North Carolina. Serving as Chair of the Department of Vocal Music from 20012005, Dismukes was responsible for building a highly qualified and experienced voice faculty.  She assisted in the development of two new performance degree programs — the Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and the Master of Music in Vocal Performance. She also assisted in the preparation of the NASM review and site visit (2003-2004) that resulted in the full accreditation of the School of Music. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Lee, a Master's Degree from Austin Peay State University, and her Doctorate from the University of Alabama. Cindy Gould Cindy Gould was initiated by the Deta Eta Chapter in April. Northern Arizona University (NAU) trumpet instructor Cindy Gould has been a member of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra (FSO) since 1985 and became principal trumpet in 2001. She also serves as the librarian, personnel manager, and office manager of the FSO. She maintains a private studio and freelances in the northern Arizona area. She is a member of the NAU faculty brass quintet and performs with the Flagstaff Symphony Brass Quintet. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Montana and her Master's Degree in Trumpet Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music. She has taught trumpet and liberal studies classes at Kansas State University, Wright State University, and Northern Arizona University. She is an alumna of the Aspen Music Festival. While living in Cincinnati, she was a member of the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Hamilton Symphony Orchestra, and Ohio Valley Brass Quintet. Additionally, she regularly performed with the Cincinnati Symphony, Cincinnati Opera, and Cincinnati May Festival Orchestras. In Seattle, she was a member of the Washington Brass Ensemble, Bellevue Philharmonic, and Washington Wind Symphony and performed with the Seattle Symphony and Evergreen Brass Quintet. She has also performed in the 1996 and 1998 Arizona Opera productions of Wagner's Ring Cycle. Jerry Hoover Jerry Hoover was initiated by the Evansville Alumnae Chapter in May. A recent honoree by Evansville's Trinity United Methodist Church for 40 years of church musical service, Hoover boasts a musical career that has spanned six decades. As he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Evansville College and his Master's Degree from Indiana University, he directed the 1st Armored Division Chorus for the U.S. Army. He went on to serve as a vocal music and English teacher for Lodge Elementary School, vocal music director for 24 years at North High School, and counselor for Harrison High School, all for the Evansville-Vanderburgh (IN) School Corporation. During this time, he directed clinic choir for Indiana University and served as music director for the Mesker Starlite Theatre and part-time voice instructor for the University of Evansville. His private studio opened in 1959 and continues to this day. He is a charter member of the Evansville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, served as state chairman for the American Choral Directors Association, and was a member of the board of directors for the Indiana Music Educators Association and Indiana University School of Music Alumni. He was elected to membership in the National Association of Teachers of Singing and awarded a National Thespian Society Honorary Membership. Barry B. Mahady Barry B. Mahady was initiated by the Lafayette Alumnae Chapter in March. He began his teaching career as Band Director at Baker School in Mobile, AL, and was appointed Band Director at Hahnville (LA) High School five years later. He was later appointed Director of Transportation for the St. Charles Parish Public School Board, serving in that capacity until his retirement at which time he became manager of Band Instrument Department at Mitchell's Music Inc. He has extensive experience playing clarinet, including work with the Baton Rouge and Mobile Symphony Orchestras and as part of opera and ballet orchestras and professional bands. He was named Band Director of the Year by his district band association and Contributor of the Year by the Louisiana Chapter of Phi Beta Mu, the honorary bandmasters fraternity. He has conducted community bands in Georgia and Louisiana and currently serves as principal clarinetist of the Lafayette Concert band and the Acadian Wind Symphony. He serves as guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout Louisiana. He earned his Bachelor's Degree of Music Education from Southeastern Louisiana College and his Master's Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music. Dr. Stella Markou Dr. Stella Markou was initiated by the St. Louis Alumnae Chapter in February 2010. Since 2007, Dr. Markou has been the Director of Vocal Studies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis where she teaches voice and directs their Opera Theatre productions. A frequent featured solo soprano, she has performed as a guest artist with the Dance New Amsterdam Company, the University of Nevada Las Vegas, the Arianna String Quartet, and the Ambassadors of Harmony. Her festival appearances include the Heidelberg New Music Festival, International Computer Music Conference, Electronic Music Midwest and SEAMUS.  Her stage performances include Off-Broadway as well as roles performed from Die Zauberflöte, The Turn of the Screw, The Mikado, The Telephone, La Canterina and The Soldier's Tale. She has earned first prizes in the Doctoral Division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Arizona Opera Guild Competition, and she was the recipient of the prestigious Arizona Community Foundation/Piper Enrichment Grant. Dr. Markou holds a Bachelors Degree in Vocal Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, a Master's Degree in Vocal Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and a Doctorate in Vocal Performance from The University of Arizona. Her work can be found on the SEAMUS and MSR record labels. Dr. Shawn T. Smith Dr. Shawn T. Smith was initiated by the Lambda Gamma Chapter in April.
