DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS at the University of Cincinnati CollegeConservatory of Music as a scholarship student of Eugene and Elizabeth Pridonoff. He received his music certifications in piano, violin, and theory from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and the Trinity College of Music, both in London. Lim has won several piano competitions including the Young Artist Concerto Competition, WVMTNA Collegiate Piano Competition, and WGUC Cincinnati Public Classical Radio Audition. He served as the instrumental and vocal collaborative pianist for the 2002 Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca in Italy and as the official collaborative pianist for the 45th World Piano Competition. An active recitalist, he has performed in the United States, Asia, and Europe. Most recently, he was the Convention Artist at the WVMTA State Convention where he performed Bartók's Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra with the WVU Symphony Orchestra. Lim has also performed solo recitals in Italy, Romania, and throughout the United States including recent performances at Music At Penn Alps Concert Series in Maryland and Steinway Hall in New York City. Dr. Lim is a member of the piano faculty at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he teaches applied piano, piano literature, and class piano. Lim's interest and research in twentiethcentury music — particularly by American composers — and piano pedagogy have resulted in invitations for presentations and master classes at regional and national levels. Along with SAI Friend of the Arts Susana Garcia, he developed eNovative Piano, a multimedia online resource for piano instruction. An active pedagogue and clinician, he has presented "WEB-Based Videos in Group Piano Instruction," at the 27th World Conference of the International Society for Music Education in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and at the WVMTA State Convention. Dr. Sergio Monteiro Dr. Sergio Monteiro was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Alpha Zeta Chapter in December. Assistant Professor of Music and director of the piano program at Oklahoma City University's Bass School of Music, Dr. Monteiro was born in Brazil. He began piano study at the age of 4 with his mother and went on to work under the Dr. Sergio Monterio Brian Osborne guidance of Myrian Dauelsberg at the National Music School of Rio de Janeiro, where he completed the Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. During this period, he won several Brazilian and other South American piano competitions. In 2000, he was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Culture to study at the Eastman School of Music, where he earned his Doctor of Musical Arts under Nelita True. In 2003, Dr. Monteiro won the 2nd Annual Martha Argerich International Piano Competition in Buenos Aires. He was invited to play at the opening concert of the Martha Argerich Festival with the Buenos Aires Philharmonic conducted by Charles Dutoit, thus launching his international career. After the competition, he was selected to take part in Italy's International Piano Academy where he worked for two years. Dr. Monteiro has appeared with some of the most prestigious orchestras in South America, Europe and North America. In addition to recitals in Switzerland, Italy, Holland, Germany, and Brazil and performances with the Turmalin Trio in Holland and Germany, he has lectured and led master classes at schools around the world. An energetic champion of Brazilian music, Dr. Monteiro has been honored by many composers with invitations to give premieres of compositions written for and dedicated to him. In 2008, he released a CD featuring Villa-Lobos' complete cycle of Prole do Bebe. In 2010, Dr. Monteiro was invited to join the Steinway Artists' Roster. December. Osborne joined the music faculty at Oklahoma City University in the fall of 2008 as vocal coach/accompanist and teacher of French lyric diction and French vocal literature. While at OCU he has served as music director for The Consul, Too Many Sopranos, and as recitalist, pit continuo player and rehearsal pianist for a variety of shows. Before his Oklahoma City University appointment, he taught at the Manhattan School of Music and was vocal coach/ accompanist, recitalist, and instructor of vocal literature and opera literature at University of Mississippi. He was head coach at Arkansas's Opera in the Ozarks for three seasons and has worked with a variety of festivals and companies including Augusta Opera, Vianden Music Festival (Luxembourg), Opera North, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Virginia Opera. Osborne has conducted and performed in dozens of productions, from Die Fleidermaus to Footloose to Face on the Barroom Floor. He was rehearsal pianist and assistant to the music director at Ole Miss Opera Theater scenes program and principal pianist with the Ash Lawn Festival. He has been principal coach and/or accompanist at Brevard (NC) Music Center, Utah Festival Opera, Knoxville Opera, Virginia Opera, University of Tennessee Opera, Regina Opera, Augusta Opera, Opera Iowa, Athena Grand Opera, and Opera North. Osborne earned two Master of Music degrees: in accompanying, from University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and in voice performance from Florida State University. He earned his Bachelor's degree in voice performance with a minor in piano from the University of Georgia School of Music.
