The People-to-People Project: A Brief Haiti Update D ue to the dedication of the members of SAI, our Haiti Redevelopment Fund has received donations exceeding $15,500 since its launch on February 14, 2010. Since then, the People-to-People Project has been able to send materials to our friends at Holy Trinity School in Port-au-Prince and to the Zanmi Lasante Band in Cange. Plans are already underway for another shipment of instruments to Zanmi Lasante Band this spring. The People-to-People Project now has a new partner in Haiti: Bright Hope International. With home offices in Illinois, Bright Hope assists missionaries in South America, Africa, Asia and Haiti. Through a recently created cooperative agreement, our project has sent a pallet of materials destined for Ebenezer Glenn Orphanage in Dessalines on a Bright Hope freight ship. Materials donated for the orphanage came from individuals, college chapters, and alumnae chapters and included guitars, music stands, clarinets, flutes, an alto sax and a great deal of music. Each donation the Project receives has a profound impact on a student musician abroad. Thanks to all who have contributed to the Haiti Redevelopment Fund. For those interested in supporting the project with a monetary donation, we ask that you please contribute to the general Peopleto-People fund so that your dollars can then be used to assist musicians around the world. To donate, make your check out to SAI Philanthropies, Inc., and write "People-to-People Project" in the memo line. SAI Philanthropies greatly appreciates your generosity.
