SOUND BITES Davis Named New PAN PIPES Editor S AI is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather L. Davis as the new editor of PAN PIPES. Heather Davis was initiated into Sigma Alpha Iota by the Eta Pi Chapter at Stetson University. She is a percussionist who also plays piano and jazz saxophone for fun. Heather holds a degree in Band Instrument Repair from Minnesota State Southeast Technical College, a Bachelor's in Music Education from Stetson University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Stetson University. She is in the process of completing a Master of Science in Marketing degree at the University of South Florida, where she works as a graduate teaching assistant in the Marketing Department for the College of Business. After graduation from Stetson University with her BME degree, Heather affiliated with the Volusia County Alumnae Chapter where she held numerous chapter offices and chair positions. Heather also served the fraternity as the 2006 SAI National Convention Publicity Chair for the convention held in Orlando, and was was elected THE EDITORS OF PAN PIPES Editor Irma Margaret Himelberger, 1909 Grace Harriet Wood, 1910 Lillian Dudley, 1911 Byrl Bacher, 1912 Mary H. At the 2009 SAI National Convention in Chicago, Heather was elected as Region VI Regional Officer, and is currently serving the fraternity in that capacity. Heather is a recipient of the Sword of Honor, and is very excited about being selected as Editor of PAN PIPES. Davis, 2010 Beta Beta Initiate Reelected as AGO President S igma Alpha Iota's Dr. Eileen Guenther was elected to a second term as President of the National Council of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) in June. Guenther is an initiate of Bete Beta Chapter at the University of Kansas and a current member of the Washington, DC Alumnae Chapter. She previously served on the guild's Task Force on Issues of Guild Inclusiveness. Beta Omicron initiate Agnes Armstrong was elected as one of the nine regional councillors. Election results were reported July 7 during the AGO Annual meeting, held in conjunction with the AGO National Convention in Washington, D.C. Members of the newly elected National Council include four national officers, four national councillors with portfolio, and nine regional councillors drawn from across the country. The non-voting executive director serves as an ex officio member of Council. The AGO is the national professional association serving the organ and S A I C A RE E R S A new feature spotlighting the variety of professions pursued by SAI members. S andra Lee Van Dam, a percussionist and former VPM of the Boulder Alumnae Chapter, is also a talented painter with a studio at the Dry Ice Factory in Denver, CO. After moving to Colorado in '78, Sandra won the position of Principal Percussionist for the Colorado Springs Symphony, was recently Timpanist for the Littleton Symphony, 10 choral music fields. Founded in 1896 as both an educational and service organization, it sets and maintains high musical standards and promotes the understanding and appreciation of all aspects of organ and choral music. She has even been the King's Drummer at the Colorado Renaissance Festival. She married another musician in 1981 and had two sons (who are also musical). Now, in addition to playing music, she creates beautiful paintings and exhibits them throughout Colorado. When not creating her own pieces, Sandra teaches a painting class in Arvada, CO.
