Lindsay Aleshire is an initiate of the Iota Zeta chapter at the University of Georgia (UGA), where she is in the Honors Program pursuing a double major in Music and Public Relations. Lindsay's Kennedy Center internship was with the National Symphony Orchestra's Education Department, where she assisted with the Summer Music Institute, a four-week long program to prepare aspiring young instrumentalists for their futures in music. Lindsay has played the oboe and the saxophone since the sixth grade, and enjoys performing in the pit orchestras of local theater productions. She currently studies oboe at UGA and is playing in the Opera Ensemble Orchestra for UGA's fall 2010 production of Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore. She also plays baritone saxophone in the UGA Jazz Band, and has worked as a member of the stage crew at the UGA Performing Arts Center. During the summer of 2008, Lindsay served as a summer associate at the Diverse City Theater Company in New York City, where she assisted with the rehearsal and production process for the company's summer main stage production and collaborated to plan and produce a fundraising benefit concert. This past spring, she became a marketing and media relations intern at the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center, a position that she will hold until her graduation this spring. Lindsay was initiated as a member of Sigma Alpha Iota in spring 2008, and has consistently held leadership positions in the Iota Zeta chapter, including Treasurer of her Member-In-Training class, Projects and Programs Chair and Interim Chapter Treasurer. Upon her return to UGA this fall, she began serving as the Iota Zeta chapter President. When asked about her experience this past summer, Lindsay replied, "I always knew I wanted to keep music in my life, but I never considered music beyond performance or education.  I am now aware of an exciting new realm of possibilities in music and arts administration because of the opportunity that SAI gave me this summer at the Kennedy Center.  I have a renewed enthusiasm in my musical education."   summer music scholarships Megan Sherrod Lauren Frick Alpha Zeta, Oklahoma City University, Zeta B, Region II Eta Tau, Shepherd University, Iota C, Region VII Emily Charles SooYeon Kim Theta, Washburn University, Theta A, Region II Epsilon, Ithaca College, Eta A, Region VIII Anna DeGraff Lisa Rodio Sigma Sigma, University of Minnesota, Epsilon B, Region III Gamma Epsilon, University of Maryland, Iota A, Region VIII Allyson Dezii Mariah Maxwell Delta Mu, Temple University, Chi A, Region VIII Delta Nu, Howard University, Iota A, Region VIII Mindi Ehrlich Gamma Pi, California State University/Long Beac h, Delta A, Region I 26 PAN PIPES FALL 2010sai-national.org Elizabeth Vancura Alpha Phi, University of Colorado/Boulder, Xi C, Region I
