A Word from the National President A Dear PAN PIPES readers, s we begin a new fraternity year, we celebrate the accomplishments and successes from the previous year. Our members and chapters have done remarkable work in our communities, and I'm excited to share their stories with you in this issue of Pan Pipes. As a member of the Professional Fraternity Association (PFA), SAI has the opportunity each year to nominate for PFA's five annual awards. I am thrilled to announce that SAI nominees were winners in three of the five categories this year: • Outstanding Community Service Award : Kappa Tau Chapter, Capital U. • Outstanding Professional Program Award: Bold Note (Arlene Veron, Director) • Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award: Deborah Volker, NVP-Ritual/Fraternity Ed Ruth Sieber Johnson, Executive Director, Elizabeth Nordling, former SAI National President and current PFA President, and I were joined by Arlene Veron, Deborah Volker, and Nancy De Leon, President of Kappa Tau Chapter in St. Louis. It was a very special weekend for us as we proudly cheered on our sisters as each award was presented. If I were wearing a vest, the buttons would be "popping off" with pride. As you turn the pages and read about this year's award winners, you will see why I am so impressed with the work our members accomplished this past fraternity year! In fact, nominations for both the National One Tunnel Road Asheville, NC 28805 ( Collegiate Leadership Award and the National Outstanding Collegiate Chapter Treasurer Award were so exceptional, that the National Executive Board recognized two winners in each category. Congratulations go out to every chapter and member listed in this edition of Pan Pipes. You have exemplified the ideals of our fraternity through your service, leadership and devotion to SAI. Finally, you will also read about our 2013 Philanthropies Awards. Each year, SAI Philanthropies, Inc. gives over $100,000 in scholarships and grants to our members. Our donations to the Fraternity's charitable arm directly affect the success and achievements of our chapters and our members. I know you too will be inspired by the creativity of these projects, events, and accomplishments. Through the incredible work of our members, SAI's purpose and mission will continue to thrive for many years to come. Speaking of years to come – St. Louis – it's just around the corner! Do not forget to mark the dates of our next National Convention on your calendar and make plans to attend! Meet me in St. Louis, July 23-27, 2015 at the Union Station Hotel! Dozens of roses to you all!
