This residency will take place over Thanksgiving Weekend, Nov. 27-29, 2014. Elizabeth Núñez, Associate Conductor of the Young People's Chorus New York City, will conduct the music of Gwyneth Walker in this performance. Gwyneth Walker will be the Composer-in-Residence for this weekend, and during the three-day residency, singers will participate in intensive rehearsals with Mrs. Núñez. This performance will feature New York City's Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and the Distinguished Concerts Singers International, a choir comprised of auditioned choral ensembles and individuals from across the world. The difficulty of the work is at the discretion of the composer, but high artistic goals should be balanced with realistic instrumental demands. Entered works should not have been previously published, recorded and commercially released, or have had a formal premiere. Only original works which are less than five years old should be submitted. Works should be complete, with no single movements of multi-movement pieces. Submissions will be adjudicated anonymously in two rounds. The award is $1,500.
