Vox Populi is an emerging contemporary ensemble seeking to promote, perform, and play a vital part in the creation of new music utilizing and showcasing the human voice Each composer can submit 3 entries for consideration. Works must utilize the human voice, whether in spoken word form, as a sound effect, reading text, in a recorded, manipulated style, or any other fashion which incorporates the voice into a chamber music setting. Deadline: Jan. 1, 2015 Contact: Aristict Director Aaron Graham aaronearlgraham@gmail.com Church Music Search Call for Scores This annual and international church music contest calls authors and composers to create congregational hymns, choral anthems and orchestral music that engage and exclaim liberal Christian theology and associated themes. The 2015 Search is for an SATB Choral Anthem suitable for Adult Choirs with Keyboard Accompaniment (Organ or Piano). Other optional instrumental parts may be included. The anthem should express the meaning and celebration of Easter from a theologically-liberal viewpoint. An award of $1500 will be given to the creator of the winning selection (or divided equally between author and composer). Deadline: Feb.1, 2015 Website: pullen.org/musicsearch Left Coast Chamber Ensemble Composition Contest Composers of all ages and nationalities may apply. The winning composition will receive $1,500 and a recorded performance by Left Coast Chamber Ensemble during the 2015-2016 concert season. See website for full criteria of competition, including accepted instrumentation. Each composer must submit a legible score of professional quality. No marks identifying the composer must appear anywhere on the score. Tapes or CDs preferred. MIDI realizations are acceptable. Deadline: Feb. 7, 2015 Website: leftcoastensemble.org/composition- contest Margaret Blackburn Biennial Composition Competition A $1,000 grand prize will be awarded to the female student composer who submits the winning musical composition in the 2015 Biennial Blackburn Memorial Composition Competition, sponsored by the SAI Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter. Membership in Sigma Alpha Iota is not required. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university or graduate music program in the 2014-15 academic year. Compositions should be for a small ensemble of no less than two instruments, which may include voice, and no more than twelve instruments, including voice. Works for instruments and electronic sounds, digital media, CD, interactive compositions or works for electronic sounds alone can be included. No published scores will be accepted. See the SAI website for contact details and deadlines. 5th Solo Harp Composition Contest The Composition Contest for the USA International Harp Competition takes place prior to the triennial performance competition. It was established in 2003 to promote the harp as a solo instrument and to encourage composers to write new works for the harp. To date over 250 composers from 40 countries have been Composition Contest participants. The winning composition will be included in the 2016 USA International Harp Competition's required third stage repertoire. It will also be performed by the Gold Medalist at 10th Competition-related debut recitals. The composer will receive $2,000. The winning composition will be published by Lyon & Healy Harps.
