Dear PAN PIPES readers, I n less than 8 months or 274 days, we will all be gathering at the Union Station Hotel in St. Louis for SAI's 47 th National Convention! If you haven't already done so, mark these dates down in your calendar: July 23 rd – 27 th , 2015. The National Executive Board held their summer 2014 meeting at our Convention hotel and we are very excited to share the ambiance of the hotel and the wonderful city of St. Louis with every one of you! If you have not had the pleasure of visiting St. Louis, I can assure you that the city offers some wonderful tourist sites, a long history, and great food and entertainment. I encourage you to consider bringing the entire family to our Convention as there are many activities that all ages will enjoy — from the Zoo, to the Gateway Arch, to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, to Forest Park. And let me not forget — baseball! The Historic Union Station Hotel is a Double Tree by Hilton Hotel. In addition to the hotel's wonderful restaurant, there are several other options for food and refreshment both in the hotel's shopping center as well as adjacent to the property. There is something for every type of palate and size of pocketbook. More details will be coming out over the next few months, but to get you all on board for the trip to St. Louis, here are a few of the highlights we already have planned for our Convention: Our SAI Philanthropies Benefit Concert will feature Elaine Fukunaga, • pianist. Living in Switzerland now, Elaine is an initiate of Beta Beta Collegiate Chapter and has been the recipient of the SAI Undergraduate Performance Award, the SAI Graduate Performance Award, and the Career Performance Grant. Her performance promises to be exciting and impressive – something not to be missed! In addition to Elaine's performance, we will have opportunities to • hear music and participate in music making throughout the Convention experience. Be sure to pack your songbooks so you can sing with the hundreds of other sisters in attendance. We look forward to hearing as many performers as possible during our time together. If you would like to be considered for a performance, you will need to start preparing your CD for submission. Learning is part of attending Convention and we look forward to • having a wide variety of presenters and topics. Requests for workshop presenters will be coming out shortly – we hope you will consider sharing your expertise with your sisters. Do you have enough SAI paraphernalia? You will have plenty of • opportunities to stock up on your favorite SAI items from our SAI store as well as our Official Jeweler along with various other vendors. I hope your chapter is already preparing to sell SAI-related items at our Convention Phlea-Phlam! 10% of the each chapter's proceeds will help to support SAI Philanthropies, Inc. It is each chapter's responsibility to send a delegate to St. Louis; but don't limit your chapter's experience to just one person! If you can, send as many members as possible! I know of one collegiate chapter who already has 4 cars full of sisters already making plans on how to get to St. Louis! I hope all of you will plan to meet me in St. Louis this coming July! You don't want to miss one second of the excitement! In SAI sisterhood, Leslie Odom Miller, National President PAN PIPES is always accepting new article submissions and ideas.
