Proksch earned his Bachelor's Degrees in Music and History from Centre College, his Master's in Musicolog y from Penn State University, and his Doctorate in Musicolog y from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. DR. HARVEY STOKES Dr. Harvey Stokes was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Mu Gamma Chapter in April. Dr. Stokes is Professor of Music at Hampton University, where he also is the Founder and Director of the Computer Music Laboratory. He has also taught at Miami University, Christopher Newport University, and the College of William and Mary. Currently, Dr. Stokes serves on the National Council of the Society of Composers as well as the National Association of Composers USA and is a board officer of the Southeastern Composers League. He has also served as a consultant for the North Carolina Arts Council, e College Board, the Educational Testing Service, and the Educational Policy Improvement Center for the Advanced Placement (AP) in Music Program. e oboe performance experiences of Dr. Stokes include those with the Tidewater Winds, Symphonicity Orchestra of Virginia Beach, the Virginia Symphony, Millennium Symphony, and the Royal Ethiopian Philharmonic. Additionally, several composer residencies have been completed at West Chester University, Chowan University, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is the author of two books on music as well as being an award-winning composer of numerous works. ese works are available from Subito/Seesaw Music, Ars Nova Music Press, Centaur Records, Albany Records, and Harkie Music. His works have been performed recently in Hong Kong, Argentina, France, Canada, and the United States. He earned his Bachelor's' from East Carolina University, his Master's from e University of Georgia, and his Doctorate from Michigan State University. CHRISTINE SEITZ Christine Seitz was initiated by the Iota Lambda Chapter in April. Christine Seitz, Associate Teaching Professor of Music, joined the faculty at the University of Missouri in the Fall of 2008, where she is Director of Show-Me Opera and a member of the voice faculty. She has been on the staff at Des Moines Metro Opera as a stage director since 2006, and she was the founding Opera Director for the Pine Mountain Music Festival. Seitz has created original translations and supertitles for many opera companies and universities. Seitz is an established dramatic soprano, and has also sung operatic roles with the Seattle Opera, the Dallas Opera, Madison Opera, the Los Angeles Opera, the Toledo Opera, Kentucky Opera, the Florentine Opera of Milwaukee, Central City Opera, and in Europe with the Wuppertaler Bühnen and the Stadttheater Bern. She received Bachelors' Degrees in both Applied Voice and Music Education and her Master's in Applied Voice from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Murray Steib Dr. Murray Steib was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Iota Chi Chapter in April. Dr. Murray Steib is currently an Associate Professor of Music History and Musicolog y at Ball State University. He received his Bachelor's in Guitar Performance at Roosevelt University and his Doctorate in Music History at the University of Chicago. He has published articles and reviews in the Journal of Musicolog y, Tijdschri van de Koninklijke Vereniging voor Nederlandse Muziekgeschiedenis, Music Library Association Notes, the Journal of Musicological Research, and e Renaissance Quarterly. He has also read at both national and international conventions in the United States and Europe, including the International Medieval Congress in Kalamazoo, the International Medieval and Renaissance Conference in Great Britain, the International Musicological Society, the South Central Renaissance Conference, the local and national meetings of the American Musicological Society, and a variety of specialty conferences on the motet. Dr. Steib is currently working on an edition of the music of Firmin Caron and an article which explores the social, political, and religious milieu that produced a late fieenth-century Ferrarese manuscript and argues that Johannes Martini, its best-represented composer, acted as its editor.
