PAN PIPES • FALL 2015 • sai-national.org 4 Dear Readers, I am so very pleased to be the new Editor for PAN PIPES and to be able to serve the frater- nity in this capacity! Allow me to briefly intro- duce myself: I was initiated into Sigma Alpha Iota by Epsilon Chapter at Ithaca College, where I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's in Music Educa- tion. I have taught music at the public school and private studio levels, and I have performed with a number of local community ensembles on the oboe, English horn, and as a vocalist. I have been a member of the Baltimore Alumnae and Inter- national Chapters, and I plan to affiliate with the Raleigh/Durham Alumnae Chapter this fall. In 2000, I was appointed Eta B Province Officer and then, aer a move to Atlanta in 2005, became Tau A Province Officer. In 2008, I also served as the Region 6 Regional Officer. Most recently, I served SAI as National Vice President, Collegiate Chap- ters from 2009-2013, until a move to South Korea necessitated my resignation from office. While living in Seoul, I was a writer and local manager for Korea Ye!, an online journal aimed at assisting military families living overseas. I am currently homeschooling my young son and teaching music for a cooperative program, while continuing to write and work from home. is issue of PAN PIPES is a wonderful compilation of the events of this past summer at the 2015 National Convention. Whether this serves as a lovely reminder of your experience in St. Louis or as an excellent description of the events you may have missed, I hope you will enjoy the pictures and articles provided by our contributors. Speaking of contributors, we are looking for additional personnel to volunteer their time and writing skills to PAN PIPES and our readers! Do you have an idea for an article or interview? Is there a great resource you are aware of that we could share? If so, please contact me at SAIPanPipesEditor@gmail. com so we can discuss your potential involve- ment. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Christine Bruns Editor We appreciate the long relationship we have had with Bank of America as an affinity partner. However, we have received notification from them that Bank of America is no longer offering this kind of program, so they have discontinued our contract as of August 31, 2015. When we have a new corporate credit card program in place, it will be announced to the membership. EDITOR'S NOTES One of the pleasures of serving as National President is attending the annual convention hosted by the Professional Fraternity Association. This Convention is an intensive three day event with speakers covering timely issues such as risk management for Greek organizations, strate- gic planning for the future, and legal issues facing the Greek system. An added bonus is the unique opportunity to meet the leaders of other music organizations, opening up the lines of communication. Although we may be members of different organizations, we continue to support each other in our musical endeavors! — Leslie Odom Miller, SAI National President NotificatioN to MeMbers From left to right, Mu Phi Epsilon International President Rosemary Ames, SAI National President Leslie Odom Miller, and Delta Omicron International President Kimberly Martin- Boyd.
