PAN PIPES • FALL 2015 • sai-national.org 52 2015 Philanthropies Awards Triennial Awards Graduate Performance Awards First Place - Lucy Abrams Sigma Delta initiate, University of Illinois/ Urbana-Champaign, Upsilon B, Region V Lucy Abrams was born in Wilmette, Illinois, and began playing clarinet at age 10. She completed a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Anthropology, both with high honors, at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and received her Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music. In 2012, she was awarded a prestigious fellowship from the American- Scandinavian Foundation to study in Malmö, Sweden, with world famous clarinetist Olli Leppäniemi. In the fall of 2013 she entered the Sibelius Academy of Music in Helsinki, Finland, in the Master of Music/Diploma class. Lucy is an active solo, chamber and orchestral performer throughout Denmark, Sweden, and Finland. Second Place - Angela Reynolds Delta Pi initiate, Austin Peay State University, Psi C, Region IV An initiate of Delta Pi Chapter, Angela Collier-Reynolds is pursuing a DMA at West Virginia University where she is studying with Nina Assimakopoulos. She serves as the Graduate Teaching Assistant for the flute studio and performs regularly with the Gateway Chamber Orchestra of Tennessee. Angela has performed as soloist with the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra and Austin Peay State University Orchestra. Angela was awarded a Sigma Alpha Iota Undergraduate Performance Scholarship, performing at the national convention in Orlando, Florida in 2006. Angela received her Bachelor's degree in music education and flute performance from Austin Peay State University where she studied with Dr. Lisa Wolynec, and a Master of Music degree in flute performance from the University of Northern Iowa.
