PAN PIPES • SPRING 2016 • sai-national.org 32 The Association of Concert Bands 2017 Composition Contest This contest is intended for composers 30 and under writing music for concert band. The composition must be an original 3 to 5-minute piece for concert band at a grade level of roughly 4. The piece premiere at the annual convention of the Association of Concert Bands, May 3-7, 2017, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL by a band comprised primarily of adult musicians. The composer will receive a recording of the premier performance and an award of $1,000 and reimbursement up to $1,000 for travel expenses to attend. Deadline: Aug. 15, 2016 Website: acbands.org/compositioncontest The 2016 St. Louis Cabaret Conference The nation's longest running training program in the art of song performance offers a stellar faculty roster of professionals to guide participants: award winning Broadway and cabaret stars, show business legends, American Idol coaches, and the finest music directors in the business. The Conference offers in-depth training to adult singers at all stages through the 5-day Traditional Track, 7-day Next Step Track, and 8-day Professional Track. It continues its unique partnership with the St. Louis Cabaret Festival, a 6-day public performance series that showcases the faculty and participants of the Conference in three beautiful state of the art venues in St. Louis' Grand Center arts district.
