Dear Members of Sigma Alpha Iota,
T
his edition of PAN PIPES features inspiring women, both past
and present, who continue to make an impact on our world
and in our culture. It is an honor to have our own SAI Honorary
Member Marian Anderson selected as one of the influential
civil rights figures to appear on the redesigned US five-dollar bill. What a
wonderful way to commemorate her historic performance on the steps
of the Lincoln Memorial in 1939, as well as to memorialize her impact on
women in music.
In this issue, you will also find "history in the making" highlighting
several initiated members of SAI doing amazing activities – composing,
performing, teaching, and service – all in the name of music! These sisters
are truly an inspiration!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers
who serve SAI in so many important positions, such as our Province
Officers and Regional Officers, as well as our Fraternity Directors and
their committee members. We are most grateful to each of you for giving
your time and talents to further the aims of SAI. You truly epitomize what
leadership and service are for all of our members.
Have a restful and productive summer! I am very excited to see
what amazing activities SAIs around the world will be doing this coming
Fraternity year!
SAI love and mine,
Leslie Odom Miller
