sai-national.org • FALL 2016 • PAN PIPES 7 D E I J K N O P T U X Y Z In 1916, Delta Chapter approached the National Convention body with an idea that would change the lives of thousands of artists over the next one hundred years. For a donation of $25 from each SAI chapter, the fraternity could commence building Pan's Cottage—an artist residence at the MacDowell Colony. To this day, Pan's Cottage is SAI Philanthropies' longest lasting charitable endeavor. Unfortunately, over the years, this beautiful cottage that has served as an inspiration to so many, has fallen into some disrepair. As SAI members, it is up to each of us to ensure that Pan's Cottage can continue to provide solace to some of our nation's finest artists. Last triennium, SAI Philanthropies committed to a five-year $100,000 grant to the MacDowell Colony supporting this much-needed renovation. In order to raise funds for this renovation, SAI Philanthropies is excited to announce the Pan's Cottage Campaign. During the next two years leading up to the 2018 Convention, SAI Philanthropies will be approaching individuals and chapters to support this renovation. Our goal is to raise $100,000 by June 30, 2018. To help SAI Philanthropies launch this campaign, a group of generous campaign leaders have contributed support totaling more than $41,000— over 40% of the needed funding! As demonstrated by the red roses on the Pan's Cottage drawing, we will be building a "virtual rose garden" by placing a red rose on the cottage for every $1,000 raised. These campaign leaders invite you to join them in helping to build our "virtual rose" garden and raise the remaining $59,000 needed. What can you do to support the Pan's Cottage Campaign efforts? • Hold chapter fundraisers – photos of chapters that donate will appear on the national website; • Match pledges made by Regional or Province Officers; • Donate an individual minimum gift of $25, matching Delta Chapter's 1916 request to the National Convention; • Speak about the MacDowell Colony and Pan's Cottage at Province Days; • Read quarterly PAN PIPES for Pan's Cottage Campaign articles for renovation and campaign updates. Thank you for helping Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies make the Pan's Cottage Campaign a success! Your annual gifts to SAI Philanthropies Symphony Society directly support scholarships, grants, and projects. All gifts donated to the Pan's Cottage Campaign will be considered support in addition to any annual Symphony Society gift. — Heidi Frankson, Chairman, Board of Directors, SAI Philanthropies, Inc.
