PA M E L A M A D S E N Dr. Pamela Madsen was initiated as an Honorary Member in December by the Lambda Chi Chapter at California State University, Fullerton. Pamela Madsen is a composer, sound artist, performer, theorist, and curator of new music. From her massive landscape inspired projects and intimate chamber music creations to her multi-media collaborations and organization of new music events, she has created a body of work with a profound breadth of vision. She travels to research, document, curate, and create new work that she then presents in an immersive concert hall experience with live performers, spatialized sound, and projected images that aim to heal the performer and the listener. Her multi-media operas/music dramas and site-specific environmental works have been commissioned and premiered by such new music performers and ensembles as Kathleen Supove, Eleloadbang, Either/OR, New York New Music Ensemble, California Ear Unit, IMAX filmmaker Greg MacGillivray, TED Fellow photographer Camille Seaman, documentary filmmaker Carolynn Coal, and visual artist Judy Chicago. Her current work explores the intersection of science, sound and healing, and the environment—through research in the bio- mechanisms of vibro-acoustics in music performance. She was guest composer in residence at Can Serrat, Montserrat, to research and document ancient source materials and create new sonic luminous etudes for her proposed work: Visions of the Black Madonna of Montserrat for piano, voice, and projected images, which received a NEW MUSIC USA Project Award. Currently, she is working on a new project called ere will come so rains, a commission from Cory Hills of the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet, with cellists Ashley Bathgate from Bang on a Can, Maggie Parkins of the Eclipse String Quartet, and Dominique de Williencourt. It will be perfromed at Crystal Cove State Park and the Mojave Desert Preserve at Zzyzx. Selected as an Alpert Award Panelist for 2010, she is a frequent guest lecturer, performer, and invited scholar at festivals and universities worldwide. She is curator of the Annual California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) New Music Festival, World Electro-Acoustic Listening Room (WEALR) Project, and InterArts Collaborative Projects at CSUF, where she is Professor of Music Composition/eory and Director of the New Music Ensemble. She holds a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree in eoretical Studies/ Composition, and a Doctorate in Music Composition from the University of California-San Diego. C H R I S I N G UA N T I Chris Inguanti was initiated as a National Arts Associate in February by the Delta Eta Chapter at Northern Arizona University. Mr. Inguanti joined the woodwind faculty at Northern Arizona University in the fall of 2014 aer serving as the Assistant Principal and Bass Clarinetist of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra for seventeen seasons. He has also been a member of the Pacific Northwest Ballet and Houston Ballet Orchestras, the New York City Opera National Company Orchestra, and the New Philharmonia of Portugal. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras and in recital in Europe and North America. In addition, Inguanti has performed in a wide variety of chamber series, including guest appearances with the Hancock Chamber Players, the Pro Nova Ensemble, and the Blue River, Forster, and DiNovo Quartets. As a member of the Manhattan Wind Quintet, Inguanti has won numerous prizes in chamber music competitions and has commissioned a number of new works for this genre. He has recorded the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante for Winds with the New Philharmonia of Portugal, a CD of premieres for woodwind quintet with the Manhattan Wind Quintet, two solo CD's (one of which, VOX TERRA – music written for the clarinet from 1980 to 2010, was nominated for best CD in the Western Canada Music Awards), and is heard on many CBC recordings with members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Prior to his post at NAU he taught at the University of British Columbia, where he was a member of Nu:BC, the School of Music's new music ensemble, and also taught at the Vancouver Academy of Music. Kurtis Adams Kurtis Adams was initiated as a Friend of the Arts in February by the Eta Tau Chapter at Shepherd University. Dr. Kurtis Adams is the director of Jazz Studies at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV. He began playing the saxophone at age nine and decided to pursue music professionally while in high school. Aer completing his bachelor's degree, he earned a graduate degree in Saxophone Performance at the University of Colorado and a Doctorate in Jazz studies from Boulder University in Boulder. He has been privileged to share the stage with great musicians, including Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D'Rivera, Joe Lovano, Conrad Herwig, and Bob Mintzer. In 2005, Downbeat Magazine awarded him Best Original Composition for his composition "Instable Mate?" In 2007, he was selected to participate in the Paquito D'Rivera Latin Jazz Workshop, performing with the Grammy-winning saxophonist at Carnegie Hall in New York. Dr. Timothy Todd Anderson Dr. Timothy Todd Anderson was initiated as a Friend of the Arts in February by the Lambda Phi Chapter at the University of Massachusetts/ Amherst.
