PAN PIPES • SUMMER 2017 • sai-national.org 4 S AI Annie Huang recently published her second children's music book, My First Music Book: Instruments. is book features photographs of different instruments from A-Z and is primarily for preschool-aged children. Her first book, My First Music Book: Notes and the Keyboard, highlights music notes and the piano keyboard in rainbow colors. Both books can be found on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, xlibris.com, or myfirstmusicbook.com. When asked why she was compelled to write her books, she shared the following: "I came up with the concept during maternity leave with my first child. He was given all of these books on how to learn your numbers, letters, colors, etc. but nothing about music. e hope is that by incorporating the two (colors and the musical alphabet/piano keyboard, instruments, and the regular alphabet), more children will be exposed to music at an early age." Annie Huang, M.D., FAAP grew up in Wheaton, IL. She began piano lessons at the age of five and eventually studied under Emilio del Rosario at the Music Center for the North Shore in Winnetka, IL (now known as the Music Institute of Chicago). Aer graduating high school, Dr. Huang entered the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University where she did her undergraduate concentration in Piano Performance and joined the Beta Chapter of SAI. Dr. Huang completed her residency in Pediatrics at the Ronald McDonald Children's Hospital of Loyola University Medical School and is currently a pediatrician in Glen Ellyn, IL with Glen Ellyn Clinic—a division of the DuPage Medical Group. Dr. Huang still lives in Wheaton, IL with her husband and three young children, where she runs the PTA Reflections program at her children's grade school, accompanies her children and others for their performances, and performs at various church functions.
