sai-national.org • WINTER 2018 • PAN PIPES 5 T he Sigma Alpha Iota National Executive Board is pleased to announce that registration will be open after February 1 for the 2018 National Convention to be held July 26- 30 in Scottsdale, Arizona for all SAI members, including official chapter delegates, Distinguished Members, Patronesses, and family members! The registration fee is $355 ($385 after May 31st), and includes convention admission, concerts, workshops, the Welcome Luncheon, the Dinner of Honors, and the Philanthropies Benefit Concert with guitarist Dr. Christopher Kachian. Attendees wishing to make an additional contribution to support SAI Philanthropies, Inc. may purchase a patron ticket to the concert for an additional $125, which includes reserved seating and a private reception after the concert. The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa is our destination and special convention room rates are available at $135 per night, plus tax (totaling approximately $152 per night). Room sharing information, which lowers the cost per person, is available on the SAI website. The closest airport is the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (about 14 miles from the resort). Suggested arrival times vary by an individual's role at convention, with arrival before 1:00 or 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 26th recommended for most official attendees (see website for specifics). In addition to the wonderful concerts, premieres, workshops, and fraternity business at convention, there will be an opportunity to enjoy a visit to the incredible Musical Instrument Museum, also known as the MIM. There are self-guided tours with more than 6,500 instruments on display from around the world. For more information, visit its website at: www.mim.org Dr. Kachian's performance and the IAMA premieres will be a major musical highlight, and there will be several additional opportunities to hear music and participate in music making throughout the convention experience. Be sure to pack your songbooks so you can sing with the hundreds of sisters in attendance. The winning song for the "Pan's Cottage Campaign" will be premiered by the Strolling SAIs, and we will hear an update on the renovations to the residence at The MacDowell Colony. Attendees will have plenty of opportunities to stock up on their favorite SAI items from our official boutique — The Whistle Shop — along with merchandise from our official jeweler, Herff Jones. Many chapters will be selling SAI-related items at our Convention Phlea-Phlam, where a portion of each chapter's proceeds help support SAI Philanthropies, Inc. We hope all of you will plan to meet us in Scottsdale in July! You won't want to miss one second of the excitement! Be sure to check the SAI Website for additional information!
