Dr. Ladd has guest conducted the University of Louisville Symphonic Band and the 2015 Wisconsin College All-Star Band as well high school honor bands. While working on his graduate degrees he conducted such groups as the Florida State Wind Orchestra, Florida State Chamber Winds, Florida State Symphonic Band, and the Syracuse University Wind Ensemble. He earned his Bachelor's in Tuba Performance/Music Education from the Eastman School of Music, his Master's in Tuba Performance/Music Education from Syracuse, and his Doctorate in Music Education from Florida State University. His memberships include the American Federation of Musicians, American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers, College Band Directors National Association, National Association for Music Education, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Pi Kappa Lambda. Dr. Robert Martin Dr. Robert Martin was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Epsilon Pi Chapter at Truman State University in April. He is an active composer and a member of the composition studio at Truman State University and the Iowa Composers Forum. His compositions have been performed by many chamber groups and ensembles in the Music Department at Truman and across the Midwest. He has over 35 years' experience teaching, counseling, including previous positions at Illinois College, Purdue University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and at the University of Indiana at Kokomo. He wrote Teaching rough Encouragement and A Skills and Strategies Handbook for Working with People and served for thirteen years as consulting school psychologist for Schuyler County R-I school system and operated a private practice since 1980 He presented regularly at conventions of the National Science Teachers Association, e William Glasser Institute, and the American Society for Cybernetics. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's in Music Education from the University of Illinois, Urbana, where he also earned a Doctorate in Educational Psychology. Dr. Suzanne Martin Dr. Suzanne Martin was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Epsilon Pi Chapter at Truman State University in April. A tenured professor of biology at Moberly Area Community College, she held previous positions at Truman State University, Westminster College, Purdue University, and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. She collects art avidly and is active within the Iowa Composers Forum. Dr. Martin actively performs in musical theatre productions in the area and sings with the University Chorus at Truman State. She earned her Bachelor's in Physics from the University of Illinois, Urbana, her Master's in Biology from Truman State University, and Doctorate from Purdue University. Dr. Elizabeth Paul Dr. Elizabeth Paul was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Kappa Tau Chapter at Ohio's Capital University in March. She is the president of Capital University, previously serving as the senior academic officer at Stetson University. Dr. Paul was vice provost and professor of psychology at e College of New Jersey, holding such positions as interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, and interim vice president for Student Life. Her academic experience includes faculty positions at e College of New Jersey and Wellesley College, and work as a research associate at Harvard University. She founded and led the Trenton Youth Community- based Research Corps, an interdisciplinary campus-community collaborative academic program. She was president of the Council on Undergraduate Research, and serves on the board of directors of the National Association of College and University Business Officers, and as a task force chair of the Council of Independent Colleges. She held a pre-doctoral training fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health, and earned a certificate in higher education administration from Harvard Institute for Educational Management. Dr. Melody Schwantes Reid Dr. Melody Schwantes Reid was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Epsilon eta Chapter at Appalachian State University in April. Dr. Melody Schwantes Reid's is a senior lecturer in Music erapy at Appalachian State University and copy editor for Voices, an international music therapy journal. She provides clinical supervision for music therapy students and teaches Music erapy Clinical Skills, Developmental Music erapy, Clinical Research Project, Models of Music erapy in Mental Health, Functional Techniques, and Introduction to Music erapy. A board certified music therapist, she also maintains a private practice, Joie de Vivre Music erapy, specializing in providing music therapy services for children with autism and other disabilities. Dr. Schwantes's clinical experience includes work with older adults, adults with mental illness, children with special needs, and adults with medical needs in a variety of settings in the US, as well as in the Czech Republic. John Phillip Rush John Phillip Rush was initiated as Friend of the Arts by the Tulsa Alumnae Chapter in April. He is the Principal Flutist with the Tulsa Symphony, Tulsa Ballet, and Tulsa Oratorio Chorus, positions he has held since August 2006. He is the founder and instructor of Tulsa Suzuki Flute, Adjunct Professor of Flute at the University of Tulsa, and Adjunct Professor of Flute at Tulsa Community College. His previous endeavors include Principal Flute with School House Symphony, students age 4-17; Principal Flute with Tulsa Opera and Light Opera Oklahoma Musical eatre; Founder and Teacher of Tulsa Suzuki Flute (2010 - present); Adjunct Professor of Flute - e University of Tulsa (2006 - present), teaching flute lessons, flute pedagogy and chamber music; Adjunct Professor Flute - Tulsa Community College (2006 to present), teaching flute and chamber music. He received his Bachelor's in Flute Performance from Wayne State University, his Master's of Music Pedagogy from Louisiana State University, and his Master's of Music from Indiana University.
