PAN PIPES • SUMMER 2018 • sai-national.org 2 A WORD FROM THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT Dear Members of Sigma Alpha Iota T he culmination of our Fraternity's triennium is on the horizon! Our 49 th National Convention is just weeks away and is promising to be another outstanding event. It is already projected to be one of our highest attended conventions in fraternity history. I encourage you to be one of those who experience the sisterhood and music personally July 26-30 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. We have over thirty workshops ranging from fraternity-related topics to career building to how to make a difference in our communities and around the world using music. Our Philanthropies Benefit Concert features the Arpeggione Duo, comprised of National Arts Associate Dr. Christopher Kachian, guitar, and Dr. omas Schonberg, cello, who will be performing an eclectic repertoire sure to appeal to all musical tastes. In addition, multiple sisters from across the country will share their various musical talents with us throughout our time together. Be sure to bring extra cash with you for those special SAI souvenirs to be found at our Phlea Phlam event, which benefits SAI Philanthropies, Inc. Many of you have given generously to our Pan's Cottage Campaign, which is in its final stages of raising our goal of $100,000. ere is still time to make a donation, which can be accomplished easily by going to our national website. One of our keynote speakers for Convention has made several treks to the MacDowell Colony and will be sharing her experiences with the Convention body. I know that her talk will personalize Pan's Cottage for everyone in attendance. Included in this edition of Pan Pipes, you will read about several of our members who have been recognized by national and international organizations for their contributions to the music industry. ey honor their sisters and the Fraternity through their faithful and continuous work in the name of music. ese sisters truly epitomize the ideals of SAI and what our founders intended when establishing our Fraternity in 1903. A National Convention also brings National, Regional, and Province elections. We extend our heartfelt thanks to those sisters who have served the fraternity as volunteers in the various officer positions this triennium. eir generous gi of time and energy are greatly appreciated as SAI continues to grow stronger each year through their leadership. Enjoy the remainder of your summer by making music wherever you may be. I look forward to seeing you in Scottsdale at our National Convention. Fraternally, Leslie Odom Miller National President 1.
