Fall 2018 6 PAN PIPES HEIDI FRANKSON CHAIRMAN, SAI PHILANTHROPIES, INC. Heidi Frankson is an initiate of Iota Epsilon chapter at Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana where she earned her Bachelor's of Music and Master's of Music degrees in Vocal Performance. is is her second term as Chairman of Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc.; she has previously served as the Vice Chairman. Heidi is the past president of the Charlotte Alumnae, Bloomington Alumnae, Washington D.C. Alumnae, and New York Alumnae Chapters. She has also served as Beta A Province Officer. She is the recipient of the Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, and Wreath of Achievement. As a seasoned development professional, she has served in a number of fundraising positions including the corporate development manager for the Charlotte Symphony and as development director for both the Marilyn Horne Foundation and the WonderLab Museum of Science, Health and Technology. Having most recently worked as administrative program coordinator at e Jazz Arts Initiative in Charlotte, North Carolina, Heidi recently relocated to the Madison, Wisconsin area with her husband Michael Hackett, who has been hired to lead the jazz program at University of Wisconsin at Whitewater. ey have a son, Eric, who is an aspiring jazz trumpeter. RUTH SIEBER JOHNSON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Ruth Sieber Johnson is an Epsilon Tau initiate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, from which she received a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance, magna cum laude. She also attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL, and did graduate work at UALR in teaching the gied and talented. Aer completing her studies, she joined the roster of the Arkansas Opera eater. Her roles included Rosina in "e Barber of Seville", Adele in "Die Fledermaus", and Lauretta in "Gianni Schicchi". She has appeared in New York with the Stony Brook Bach Aria Festival and in St. Louis and Dallas with their respective Bach societies. She was a charter member of the Little Rock Alumnae Chapter, served as Mu Province President and President/Vice President, Tau B Province Officer, and National Newsletter Director and editor of Temp o! before being hired for her current position. She has received the Collegiate Scholastic Award, Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, Rose of Dedication, and Ring of Excellence. In addition to her full time job as SAI Executive Director at National Headquarters in Asheville, North Carolina, she occasionally directs musical theater productions for the Asheville Community eater and University of North Carolina-Asheville, provides lecture/demonstrations for Elderhostels, has served as a church music director and organist, and gives concert and recital performances. In June 2012, she was presented in concert at the Nixon Library in California, performing with Dr. Leslie Odom Miller, oboist and SAI National President. In April 2013 she presented a Masterclass and Showcase Recital for Composers at her alma mater in Little Rock. at same year, she appeared in the Jake Heggie opera, "Dead Man Walking", produced by the Modern American Music Project. Her husband, John Johnson, Friend of the Arts, (March 2, 1938 - March 19, 2011) designed and installed the cabinetry at National Headquarters, and always kept a loving eye on the SAI Harmony Rose Garden. With much gratitude for Sigma Alpha Iota, Ruth celebrated her 26th anniversary in the position of Executive Director on July 1, 2018. 2018 NATIONAL CONVENTION TRACEY WYGAL WITHROW NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, RITUAL AND FRATERNITY EDUCATION Tracey was initiated into Eta Tau Chapter at Shepherd University in the Spring of 1996, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education with certification in K-12 vocal and instrumental music. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies from West Virginia University. She held several leadership positions in both her collegiate and alumnae chapters. She served as Iota C PO (2006-2012) and Region VII Regional Officer (2012-2015). Tracey was elected as NVP, Ritual and Fraternity Education at the 2015 National Convention. She is a recipient of the Sword of Honor, Ruby Sword of Honor, Rose of Honor, and Wreath of Achievement. Professionally, Tracey is employed as the choral director and drama club sponsor at James Wood Middle School in Winchester, Virginia. She is a member of the National Education Association, National Association for Music Educators, and American Choral Directors Association. Tracey has been named Shepherdstown Middle School Teacher of the Year, James Wood Middle School Teacher of the Year, and the Northern Shenandoah Valley ARC (organization that advocates for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities) Educator of the Year. She serves on the leadership team of the Hampshire County (WV) Relay For Life- an event sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Tracey lives in Capon Bridge, West Virginia with her husband, Brian, and dog, Maxima.
