Winter 2019 30 PAN PIPES DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS throughout his tenure. He has years of experience at both the high school and college level, but he is most well-known to the community as the former Director of Vocal Music at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids where he taught for 21 years. Dr. Kreitzer inspired the students who sang in his choirs and many of those former students credit their love of music throughout their adult lives to the seeds planted in that choir room in high school. In 2011, Dr. Kreitzer accepted the Director of Music Activities position at Mount Mercy University where he has gone on to rework a program that is flourishing under his direction. Dr. Kreitzer continues to have a positive influence on the community. He is the Chorus Master for the Cedar Rapids Opera Company, directs the musical activities at First Congregational Church, and participates in community functions. Kreitzer received his Bachelor's in Music Education and his Master's in Music History and literature from the University of South Dakota. He received his Doctorate in Choral Conducting from the University of Iowa. As Director of Music Activities, Kreitzer directs the University Choir, Jazz Connection and Madrigal Singers, and is Director of the Summer Music Academy. Dr. Jeremy Mims Dr. Jeremy Mims was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Mu Nu Chapter at Winthrop University. He is Assistant Professor of Music at Winthrop University, where he is the Director of Choral Activities. He conducts the Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Collegiate Choir and teaches conducting to undergraduate and graduate students. Previously he was the chair of the music department at Clarke University in Dubuque, IA, where he conducted the choirs and string orchestra. He has held numerous positions with community choirs and orchestras and with various churches. He taught at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, and Clarke University in Dubuque, IA. He has held various leadership positions with the American Choral Directors Association, and numerous positions in the community with choirs, orchestras, musical theater and opera shows, and more. He was the pianist at the Prague Choral Festival at Smetana Hall twice. He is scheduled to conduct at Carnegie Hall in May 2019. As an active collaborative pianist, Mims has served as accompanist for numerous high school all-region and all-state choirs, and for professional and university choruses. Twice he has served as the pianist at the Prague Choral Festival, performing in Smetana Hall. He oen performs recitals with singers and instrumentalists and with his duet partner, Dr. Melissa Loehnig. Active in the American Choral Directors Association, Mims has presented at regional and national conventions. He obtained his Bachelor's of Music Education and Master's of Music in Conducting from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX, and his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of Missouri- Kansas City Conservatory of Music & Dance. Bill Orr Bill Orr was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Orlando Alumnae Chapter in November. He has been very supportive of the Orlando Alumnae Chapter and participates in its open chapter events. He moves furniture and helps set up at the annual brunch, works with the chapter on its fall and spring projects, and supports the scholarship fund raising concert. Bill has also worked at the collegiate level by representing the Orlando Alumnae Chapter at the Rollins College Lambda Iota chapter fundraising events. He has supported the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park by donating computer support and equipment to the office, as well as volunteering as needed during their concerts. An entrepreneurial IT Professional, he earned his Bachelor Degrees in Chemistry and Computer Science University of Central Florida. He is the husband of chapter president Sherry S. Orr. Dr. Douglas T. Owens Dr. Douglas T. Owens was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Gamma Zeta Chapter at Old Dominion University in September. He is an Associate Professor of Music, the F. Ludwig Diehn Endowed Chair of Instrumental Music Education, Graduate Program Director, and a past Chairperson of the Old Dominion University Department of Music. Dr. Owens is the director of the ODU Jazz Orchestra, and teaches several music education courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has also been a music educator at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in California and Wisconsin. Dr. Owens continues to serve as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator of wind ensembles, concert bands and jazz ensembles. Most recently, Dr. Owens has presented research and performed (with the Virginia Wind Symphony) at the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference. He earned his Bachelor's in Music Education and Master's in Trumpet Performance from the University of Colorado and his Doctorate in Music Education and Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado. Benjamin Raznick Benjamin Raznick was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Boulder Alumnae Chapter in September. He is a large supporter of music in the local and international communities and has received international recognition in his career. He has studied with piano professors both in the United States and internationally. In addition to Mr. Raznick's musical endeavors, he is a co- founder of the Lazaro Project, a charity that supplies approximately $1,500 annually of educational materials and nourishing foods for students and teachers on Zapatera Island, Nicaragua. He holds degrees from the Univerity of Wisconsin, Manuel de Falla School of Music (Buenos Aires), Juan Pedro Carrero School of Music (Barcelona, Spain), and a Master's in Education from Regis University in Denver. He is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu Honors Society. Joni Roos Joni Roos was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Lambda Iota Chapter at Rollins College in September. Roos is a teacher, performer, and clinician in the Central Florida area. As the Strings Artist-in-Residence at Rollins College, she is in charge of the string program at the Music Department. She teaches applied violin and viola, string methods, and orchestral literature. She also coaches the Instrumental Chamber Ensemble, directs the Rollins String Ensemble, and assists in directing the Rollins Orchestra. She has taught and Kreitzer Mims Raznick Owens
