Summer 2019 24 PAN PIPES DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS works by numerous present-day composers. Dr. Orr's performances of both new and standard classical repertoire have been heard on Public Radio throughout the United States and on BBC London. Orr is the Founder, and for seventeen years Director, of e University of Florida International Piano Festival, an annual summer event assembling gied young pianists with distinguished pedagogues from around the world. Additionally, Dr. Orr has taught at the Val Tidone International Festival Summer Camp, Piacenza, Italy, Cadenza Music Festival, Bankok, ailand, and has been a faculty member of the Masterclasses Ars Haliaeti, held each summer in Koper-Isola, Slovenia. While focusing primarily upon the performance and teaching of classical music, Orr is also interested in improvisational musical styles. A Steinway Artist, he records for Meyer Media, LLC. Dr. Orr studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music at Case Western Reserve University, and at e Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University. He was the recipient of the William Kurzban Prize in Piano from the Cleveland Institute, and the Aurora Ragiani Martin Piano Award from e Dana School. With graduate degrees in performance, Dr. Orr also holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education. D R . G A R Y W I L S O N Dr. Gary Wilson was initiated as a National Arts Associate by the Zeta Omicron Chapter at Lipscomb University in April. e Chair of the Classical Music Program at Lipscomb University, Dr. Wilson divides his professional time between the roles of conductor, scholar, and educator. His responsibilities as Director of Choral and Vocal Studies include conducting the A Cappella Singers and Chamber Men, directing the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and overseeing the vocal studio program. Choirs under his leadership have performed at regional and state music conferences, in New York City's Carnegie Hall, and in venues throughout the United States and Europe. He is a frequent conductor and clinician for honor choirs and festival choirs, including the Arkansas All State Choir in 2007. In 2012, Dr. Wilson founded the Lipscomb Men's Choral Festival, an annual event that brings high school singers together for a performance of men's choral literature, including the premiere of a newly commissioned work. As a scholar, Wilson has focused on the choral music of American composer Edward MacDowell. His book, A Conductor's Analysis of Edward MacDowell's Choral Music, was published in 2004, and in 2005 was nominated for the American Choral Directors Association Julius Hereford award for outstanding doctoral research. In 2012, Wilson presented his MacDowell findings at the first ACDA National Symposium on American Choral Music at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Wilson holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Harding University and Baylor University, and is the first recipient of the Doctorate in Choral Conducting from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. Before coming to Lipscomb, Wilson taught at York College in Nebraska. Wilson is a life member of the American Choral Directors Association, and serves as chair of Youth and Student Activities in the Tennessee chapter of ACDA. He is also a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Tennessee Music Educators Association, the National Collegiate Choral Conductors Organization, and Pi Kappa Lambda national music society. Jackson Anderson Jackson Anderson was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the Nu Beta Chapter at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in April. Mr. Anderson is in his second year as Director of Bands for Garber (OK) Public Schools. He graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor's of Music Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU). While there, he served as the Vice President of the Collegiate Oklahoma Music Educators Association State Board. In 2013, Anderson had his first piece for concert band, e Great Land Run, published by C.L. Barnhouse, Co. In 2014, he began his own publishing company, Rremboq Music, where he self-publishes most of his music. In 2015, Mr. Anderson participated in a composition masterclass with renowned Chinese-American composer, Zhou Long, at the University of Oklahoma where he also performed one of Zhou Long's pieces at a recital honoring the composer. Anderson holds affiliations with: the National Association for Music Education; Oklahoma Music Educators Association; Oklahoma Bandmasters Association; Texas Music Educators Association; American Society of Authors, Composer, Authors, and Publishers; Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia; and Kappa Kappa Psi. Anderson is active in the Music Ministry at Emmanuel Enid where he serves as the Orchestra Director for the Bridge service. Mr. Anderson also has an active studio where he teaches private Horn and Piano. Dr. Kenneth G. Bodiford Dr. Kenneth G. Bodiford was initiated as a Friend of the Arts by the eta Beta Chapter at Jacksonville State University in April. Dr. Bodiford has served as the Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Jacksonville State University in Alabama since 1994. He earned his Bachelor's in Music Education at Jacksonville State University, his Master's in Music Education and Wind Ensemble Conducting degree at East Carolina University, and his Doctorate in Instrumental Conducting degree from e University of Alabama. Dr. Bodiford is the conductor of the Jacksonville State University Chamber Winds. is ensemble has performed for regional and national venues such as the Alabama Music Educators Conference and the Bands of America Concert Festival Regionals.
