JAMES COHN • • • NEWS: I'm pleased to say that I am still healthy as I approach my 85th birthday, and I am still very involved with composing. I have had many performances of my chamber music, more than can be listed in Pan Pipes, and I'm still hoping for more orchestral performances. In 2011, I turned my attention to writing a musical comedy, based on a fable or fairy-tale I had read when I was a youngster and always remembered. I called it KATrina – The Enchanted Cat. I wrote all of the music and lyrics for 20 songs in 2011. I'm pleased to say that KATrina was premiered on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, presented by the TheatreBy-The-Bay Theatre Group in Bayside, NY. I'm also looking forward to December, 2012, when I will travel to Chicago, Il. For the premiere of The Tailor Variations by the 30-piece clarinet choir – Claribel, conducted by Maestro Guido Six. in cohn addition, Maestro Six will perform The Little Circus which he arranged from my orchestral work. LINDA ROBBINS COLEMAN • • • • • NEWS: SAI Member Laureate Linda Robbins Coleman spent much of the 2011-12 season adjudicating entries for the SAI Inter American Music Awards competition, composing the piano quintet Images Dangereuses, and writing/delivering a keynote speech for the SAI National Convention. She wishes to thank everyone at SAI for a most memorable and marvelous experience. Additionally she edited William S. E. Coleman's brilliant comedy, "Buffalo Bill To The Rescue!" and served as assistant director and stage manager for its performance by the StageWest Theatre Company in March. Coleman also spent eight months organizing, chairing the committee, and hosting the "Coleman Cast Party" for more than 100 people at the Drake University All-Theatre Reunion in September. If that were not enough, she worked on the first Drake Marching Band Reunion honoring coleman Emeritus Professor Don Marcouiller in October. Her music is licensed through BMI, Inc. and continues to be widely performed and broadcast throughout North America and Europe.
